Sony asking if God of War III CE should include first two games

Apr 15th 2009 9:12PM (Joystiq)
I'd certainly be interested.

I'd also like it if Konami released a MGS box set featuring all four games (GC remake of the first one). I'd also buy a GunCon3 if they made all the Time Crisis and Point Blanks available on a compilation Blu Ray or PSN.

Rumor: Xserve refresh coming up soon

Active Storage make a beautiful 3rd party XRAID to go with the Xserve. There's even a cool iPhone App in the works that can be used to monitor these arrays.

How would you change Lenovo's ThinkPad W700ds?

I'd have made the second screen a touch screen. I also like Sacapuntas' idea of combining the Wacom pad and the track pad.

Apple announces Nehalem-based Mac Pro

Mar 3rd 2009 1:43PM (Engadget)
Problem with the lower end model is the case, or more precisely, the size of it.

If you're going to release a low end Pro model then then do it correctly: one processor, one SuperDrive, two 16 x PCIe slots, two HDD bays and a redesigned smaller/slimmer casing.

It seems that people have been wanting a mid-range Mac desktop for a while now. The iMacs are great and all, but people want an upgradeable system. Apple have messed up the opportunity to release a sexy new single processor tower at a competitive price.

I've been waiting for the new Pro for months now. My current Mini doesn't have the power I need. But I'm now thinking that I may just get the dual 2.8Ghz Quad Core for a reduced clearance price. If the performance is only about the same as the new Quad core, what's the point in spending the extra money? The new 8 Core really is too much for what I require (£ & power). Plus the older model has the capability of 32GB of RAM compared to the new 8GB limit (WTF?!?!), and from what I can see, an 8800 GT is better than a renamed 9500 GT.

European PSN releases for January 15th

Jan 15th 2009 10:10AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Honestly Sony, WTF is the problem with Super Turbo HD?

It's bad enough that we're not thought worthy of either of the Castlevania games, but the Street Fighter situation is nothing short of rediculous.

European PSN store update for January 8th

Jan 8th 2009 1:45PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I feel your pain :(

Much as I'm enjoying Bionic Commando and WipEout HD (and other commercially acceptable good games), I'm much more into my fighting games.

The main PS3 games I'm waiting on are IV, XII, BlazBlue and the incredibly delayed HD Turbo; I really can't understand what the problem is with the European release.

Oh well, looks like this week will be the same as last: MvsC2, Battle Fantasia, Last Blade and Garou. Smashing.

PlayStation press release breaks down the real price of consoles

Jan 7th 2009 10:51PM (Joystiq Playstation)
This is what I've been saying to people all along. And that chart still doesn't bring the Wii or 360 fully into line with the PS3.

The Wii requires an expensive Ethernet-USB converter if you want to have wired internet. Sony were thoughtful enough to include wireless and Ethernet.

Both the 360 and Wii require rechargeable battery packs. People (or their Mum) simply will not continue to fork out for AA batteries and have to go spend more money on rechargeable options.

Macworld 2009 keynote liveblog

I'm quite disappointed too; the new 17" Pro was inevitable really. But at least that's all the MacBook range updated.

I assume this means there's going to be a separate event for the release of Snow Leopard when all the desktops get updated and we finally see the new Mini, iMac and Mac Pro?

I'm actually quite interested in this for development purposes.

New iMacs and Mac minis to use NVIDIA chips?

Dec 19th 2008 5:43PM (TUAW.com)
I've been waiting for the announcement of nVidia GPUs across the entire Mac line since the release of the new MacBooks/Pros. I can't wait to see the new specs for the iMac and especially the Mini.

What I'm more interested in though is a new Mac Pro with full nVidia chipset and a decent graphics card as standard. I'll be ordering one as soon as they're announced (hopefully) in January.
