The Joystiq Podcast Finale
Jan 10th 2012 11:39PM (Joystiq)I was definitely listening for entertainment value, and the casual conversational nature of the show was what kept me coming back. So thanks for the hours of enjoyment, guys!
I also felt more of a connection to this podcast since the guys were kind enough to use my submitted sound bumps as a regular part of the show (News on the March and the Do It Line). A special thank you for that!
Good luck in all your future endeavors!

Jul 31st 2011 11:53PM (Joystiq)I haven't listened yet, but is the idea for the "Q" show to always just have the three "classic" hosts? I just mention it because even though I like the "classic" format and it's hosts, I don't mind the use of fill-in hosts or guests should the need or desire arise. But since there is another show that offers other voices to be heard, and with the "Q" show demanding less time of the hosts, I can understand if this remains a Chris, Justin and Ludwig thing.
The Joystiq Show - 001: Duke Nukem Forever
Jun 20th 2011 7:10PM (Joystiq)I assume bringing in people from other sites to be on the show instead of just using Joystiq staffers was done to try to bring new listeners to the podcast. Part of my assumption is based on Chris Grant's tweets about the small number of regular podcast listeners, 30-50k, vs the 7 million Joystiq visitors. By having guests from other sites, ideally some of their fans will give this podcast a listen.
I don't know if switching formats is enough to get any of those 7 million viewers (uniques?) to listen to the podcast. Is that the goal? And how many of those 7 million viewers actually read all of the content on the site? I'll bet a vast percentage of them just scan the headlines and look at the pictures most of the time. I'll also bet the number of people that post comments on the stories is far less than that 7 million number as well, and may be a better representation of the past podcast listeners. So trying to convert viewers to listeners may be an exercise in futility.

Nov 22nd 2010 8:19PM (Joystiq)I'm pretty sure the xbox and ps2 versions were just the dvd versions. I still have a copy of Space Ace bought in the xbox section that says "xbox compatible" printed on the cover, but it's just a dvd that plays in any dvd player. Since xbox and ps2 both could play dvds, they could use the same dvd disc. So, I assume Dragon's Lair was made the same way.
NBA Elite 11 canceled, series handed off to EA Tiburon
Nov 3rd 2010 10:23PM (Joystiq)I wonder how much money they just flushed down the toilet with this. Not just the wasted copies they made, but all the money spent on development, not to mention the cost of the NBA license.
I wonder, if you don't actually produce a game for sale, do you still have to pay for the NBA license? I assume you do, but maybe the NBA will cut EA a break (though considering the league's financial situation, I doubt it).
