Well, Microsoft saves on not having to pay for return shipping, and also has a bunch of people that are more likely to buy the Kinect games. So probably a good financial move for them.

I was reminded of that guy, too. I saw him on an Engadget post a while back (actually, a couple posts, including his earlier prototype). His version does seem more practical, no black ball to get into.

Me too. On my gold account, I only get the 24 month option, but a silver account on my xbox gets the 12 or 24 month choice.

Yes, this delay will certainly cut into Elite's possible sales, so I'm sure they've decided to release NBA Jam separate in order to recoup some of that cash.
I'm betting NBA Jam will outsell NBA Elite 11 (regardless of the price) and I don't even think it'll be close.

I don't see it either. I even tried un-checking auto renew on my profile xbox.com and then restarting my xbox to see if it was only a deal for people without auto-renew, but no dice.
Anyway, it seems to have been pointed out that this deal actually locks you in to auto-renew for next year, at full price. So while you only pay $29.99 this year, you'll have to pay $59.99 next year (or whatever the price is in a year)!
So it actually averages out to $45 for a 12 month subscription. Pretty sneaky, MS!
