Ford shows Aussies who's Boss with special FPV Falcon

Dec 26th 2010 9:17PM (Autoblog)
there is a reason for that.... just like the Japanese Sports cars of the 90's the manufacturer is underrating the power so as to not attract too much negative attention.... you see a while back us Aussies had a supercar moral panic, in that cars that were too affordable were becoming too powerful and "hoons" could too easily get their hands on then and cause a lot of carnage. that was one reason why the next edition of the GTHO never came out and was canned because of this supercar moral panic. ford also for some reason stopped producing V8 falcons for a while too. but ever since Holden and Ford V8's have always been underrated to stop these pussies from attacking the noble V8 Aussie sedan. they bump up the official power rating with every new edition but not by much, but everyone knows that a F6 Falcon produces way more power that the official ratings. its just us Aussies trying to keep our super-sedans alive.

Video: AutoExpress pits Ford Focus RS against Porsche Boxster

Aug 31st 2010 8:26PM (Autoblog)
i would hardly call the Focus an American Car..... sure it says Ford on the badge but that car is through and through a Euro hot-hatch......
Still i was astonished at how quick the focus RS was compared to the boxster... but i would take the porsche over the ford any day of the week

Video: Monster Tajima's Suzuki SX4 Pikes Peak run

Aug 11th 2010 3:19AM (Autoblog)
i just got done playing a bit of Richard Burns Rally before i watched this vid...... now just coming from playing RBR i could see some tiny minuscule mistakes made by the Monster but i doubt that too many people in the world could do what that man was doing at that speed..... some how i have even garnered more respect for this legend who must have balls so big that he needs a wheelbarrow to carry them, i'd probably crash that car on the first corner if i went flat out

you know a car is a proper drivers car when the induction noise is better than the exhaust sound

Toyota 'victims' urge passage of Motor Vehicle Safety Act

Jul 22nd 2010 12:14AM (Autoblog)
As i have said for many years..... driving should not be taken lightly.... people operating forklifts need to get a proper licence to operate a forklift and to learn quite abit about the machine.... why don't drivers of cars.... you have to have some level of understanding of what a car is and how it works in order to be let loose onto the public road network where other people drive cars.... i believe that driver education is the only way to solve many of the problems faced on our roads.... if people just knew how to control cars properly half of all accidents would be avoided imo.....

also, on a personal note, people who have absolutely no interest in cars should not be driving them.... just in the same vein that if you have no interest in surgery you should not be a doctor

Pikes Peak 2010: Second day of practice is in the books

Jun 25th 2010 1:26AM (Autoblog)
Pikes Peak is like the Nurburgring of the Rally world almost..... has about the same number of corners, take about the same time to go round the place and is very technical and flowing at the same time..... some of the Pikes Peak cars remind me of the good old days of Group B rallying
also everyone should watch the Climb Dance short movie...... its a great homage to the Pikes Peak event and to a guy and car the set a record back in 1988

Report: Ford to give Falcon XR8 and FPV supercharged Coyote V8 to celebrate 50 years

Apr 6th 2010 7:42PM (Autoblog)
this is old news for people in Australia. The Feb edition of Wheels magazine already revealed that the falcon was going to get the 5.0 V8. the XR8 is gonna get a stock 5.0 V8 with 307kw(411bhp) and 529nm, the FPV gt is gonna get a blown 5.0 V8 with 335kw(450bhp)and 600nm, and the FPV GT-HO is gonna get the blown V8 with 375kw(503bhp) and 650nm
im actually really excited for this, ford has been lacking in the power department for a while and only its turbo straight six's have been holding the ford pride this past decade

@motorolo
i don't know if you know this but AMD won a huge court case against inter for like over $2 billion.... so i don't think AMD has a cash flow problem and with ATI doing really well for the last two gens of cards they probably don't either... all i know is that right now ATI has the upper hand since its 9000 series cards way back in the day

How would you change HTC's HD2?

Feb 6th 2010 7:01PM (Engadget)
this phone for me is perfect in almost every way... but i'm gonna hold out for winmo 7 and when i can find a freaking 32gb microsd card here in Australia. also the price of this thing is really good, AUD$800 for all this where as a 16gb Iphone 3gs is over AUD$1000 from shady places and AUD$1300 from a proper retailer and it is locked
