Command & Conquer 4 trailer features the art of fetching tiberium

Dec 23rd 2009 11:30AM (Joystiq)
Ha ha don't worry you weren't the only one to have read the title twice!

On a more disturbing note, I clicked through to the article while still believing that's what it said.

Bad times.

Jobs to dev on app name change: "Not that big of a deal."

Nov 26th 2009 10:16AM (TUAW.com)
@Charli

Actually Aspirin was surrendered as a trademark by Bayer (a German Company) after the first World War, after which it became genericised (genericized I guess if you're American - don't want to be picked up by the grammar police here...)

Even if it wasn't, I don't think you can compare this kind of trademark with pharmaceutical patents/trademarks as they're a whole different ball game.

But you're right if Jobs and Apple don't want their trademark used by unauthorised companies/producted, that's their prerogative. They're lucky they didn't get an invite to court.

Palm Pixi review

Either you edited out the most important word in that sentence, or Engadget have sneakily updated it to make you look silly.

I would have a word if I were you!

Poll: Will the DROID have you in its clutches?

Nov 6th 2009 11:03AM (Engadget)
Don't get me wrong I'm sure it is an amazing phone, I just like stuff looking nice as well as performing well (as daaper says, these two things are not mutually exclusive).

And while Apple claim to have invented many things, I highly doubt good design was one of them.

Am I the only one who thinks that is a fairly ugly phone? Mainly due to the keyboard, that directional button (complete with hideous gold effect) looks like it would be more at home on some 20 year old device...

Orange UK's iPhone contract & pay as you go pricing plans detailed

They are iPhone specific, and as it happens, exactly the same as the O2 ones before.

Dyson DC25 Blueprint impressions: is the 'Ball' worth it?

Oct 28th 2009 9:31AM (Engadget)
Being from the UK I realise people genericise the name Hoover, but that doesn't mean it's correct.

Anyway, my surname is Dyson and for some reason it pisses me off when people use the term Hoover instead of vacuum cleaner. I think it's because of the million and one times I say my name to someone on the phone, and instead of asking for a spelling, the standard response is "like the Hoover?".

It's not a Hoover, therefore it can't be an overpriced one...

Survey says Americans play more games than Europeans

Oct 27th 2009 5:49AM (Joystiq)
I'm wondering if these surveyors know that "Europe" is made up of more than 5 countries

PES 2010 is top seller in UK, Forza and FIFA close behind

Oct 26th 2009 11:02AM (Joystiq)
I reckon it's more to do with the fact that people have become so attached to PES over the good years that they will buy the crap Konami keeps churning out these days out of their blind love for the name.

Like you I used to share that attachment for PES, but then FIFA 09 came out. At first it felt a bit dirty to be playing "the enemy" but PES is now so shit I would not play it if someone paid me.

I doubt anyone who bought FIFA would want to actually buy PES too.
