Steam weekend sale on Square Enix catalog, Hitman special deal today

Mar 22nd 2012 5:58PM (Joystiq)
@Faceless Troll

But that would get you...Kane and Lynch 2. For 5$ I would prefer an STD.

Sine Mora review: A shmup in time

Mar 21st 2012 8:09PM (Joystiq)
@Stevetrop Man of Mystery

I just realized: the console with the most shumps (a genre usually dominated by the Japanese) is the american one.

Yep.

Achievement policy changing for XBLA titles, raising Gamerscore allotment [update: confirmed]

@NBear927 Yep.
Test driving every car in GRiD, because 10 or so where useless in the Career? Check.
Jumping into an ovbious trap in Portal 2? Check.
Driving on EVERY SINGLE ROAD in Test Drive Unlimited? Check.
Playing a song 30 times to reach 53,596 Hammer-ons and Pull-offs in Rock Band 3? Check.

Just Dance Propel domain registered by Ubisoft

Mar 7th 2012 10:52PM (Joystiq)
@Ultima Screw that, I want to see people trying to play Just BreakDance. Or go all meta and have Just DanceDanceRevolution.

Forza Horizon spun off by Playground Games

Mar 5th 2012 3:25PM (Joystiq)
@PANdaRUS

"The company was founded during 2009 in England's Leamington Spa, starting with veteran developers from Codemasters (Dirt) and encompassing talent from as far back as Psygnosis."

It seems that Playground Games has good pedigree already, so I don't think that should affect the development of FM5. These guys know their racing games (Psygnosis alone did Destruction Derby, Rollcage, WipeOut and the Sony-exclusive F1 games).

BandFuse: Rock Legends attempts a music game with real guitars ... again

Feb 22nd 2012 2:48PM (Joystiq)
@(Unverified) The problem is that RB3 only allows to use two real guitars, the "has-buttons-instead-of-frets" Mustang and the RB3 Fender, and that's it. I would say that if you are interested in Rock Band 3 PRO Mode, or Rocksmith, or this, is because you already have a real guitar or you plan to get one soon, and RB3 solution, while great (seeing where your fingers are WITHOUT having to look away from the screen, that's genius), limits the potential users, since not everybody will or can buy a new guitar just for one game.

But yeah, RockSmith kicks ass and Joystiq seems biased against it.

Saints Row: The Third takes gangstas to space ... today!

Feb 21st 2012 4:51PM (Joystiq)
@matrixman92 Well, since the full game has online co-op, I don't see why this DLC shouldn't.

The Darkness 2 review: Shooting bullets off a list

Feb 20th 2012 8:04PM (Joystiq)
@echerringtonYAHOOCOM

That's what the review says:

"And should you enjoy the combat enough to keep the progression going, a new game plus option opens up after completing the main campaign."

Skyrim's PC fans are modding the crap out of it with Steam Workshop

Feb 15th 2012 1:18PM (Joystiq)
@(Unverified) Well, the thing about Skyrim is that it is "extending beyond the usual or ordinary especially in size or scope", which is one of Webster's dictionary definitions for "epic".

Skyrim is epic in the true sense of the word. Now if you excuse, I have a city to pickpocket.

JAM Live Music Arcade: remix with your Rock Band instruments

Feb 15th 2012 1:06PM (Joystiq)
@TubaDude49 That's a different thing. This game is designed for the "regular" controllers, you know, 5 buttons, strum bar, etc.
