Mar 3rd 2011 2:10AM (Joystiq)Sega bundling 46 Genesis games for Classic Collection Gold Edition on PC
Feb 17th 2011 11:49PM (Joystiq)4? You are being generous, Nintendo and Square usually just re-release 1 game by itself. Chrono trigger, Ocarina of Time, FFT. Then again, it would be defilement to "bundle" those games in a collection, so I guess that's the reason..
Magicka reaches 200K sales, Arrowhead planning free and paid DLC
Feb 13th 2011 2:06PM (Joystiq)But the #1 thing you have to take into account with this game is that it costs ONLY $10! Trust me, I've already played this game for about a dozen hours. The main story is lengthy (and hilarious) for that price, and the challenge modes are a blast too.
That said, I probably wouldn't play this game at all if I weren't playing it with a close friend. Doing so increases the fun factor by 100x.

Report: Blizzard suing over Korean StarCraft broadcast rights
Dec 4th 2010 5:08PM (Joystiq)They were compensated when people bought the game. They act like people even saying the word 'starcraft' should cost money now. In this world, when you buy things, they are yours to use as you see fit. If I buy a car, and I want to taxi people around in it, I don't have to pay the factory. Though maybe it's different if I want to make a movie with that car in it? Oh wait, it is different, usually the manufacturer would pay ME to showcase their car since it's doing them such a favor. Anyone with two cents about marketing knows that people doing free advertising for you is great barring that it isn't in a bad light.
Blizzard owes the very people it's suing for its success. The reasons they are doing it is either greed, stupidity, or a plot to kill BW all together as others have mentioned, which wouldn't surprise me.
"There will be no incentive to do what Blizzard had done to balance the games for competition, which is a more difficult task than creating a normal game."
This is a comment from Paul Sams is really sad. There is no incentive to balance the games for competition? First off, why don't you try balancing the game for 99.9% of people first, which not surprisingly, would balance it for competition too, since you know, just because we're not pros doesn't mean 'balance' is different for us. Secondly, what the hell does "more difficult than creating a 'normal game'" mean? RTS IS balance! If you don't balance an RTS you haven't made a 'normal game' or even a good one. Same with arcade fighters. Is there no incentive to do this Blizz, unless you can get pros and other big time players into it (presumably who you will sue later on)? You have completely lost sight of being good game makers when you speak of needing 'incentives' to do things well. Yes, you are trying to make money, but so is every one else in this world. If you set your sights on what you can get from the customer instead of what you can give, you have already failed.
And finally, Blizzard has successfully created the illusion to the non-thinker that 'balancing' takes a lot of time and hard work. Having played their RTS's for a long time, I can tell you this is BS. It takes them a month or two to alter the numerical values for a few units? Half the time their changes are strange and irrelevant to real issues. The ones that are actually beneficial are usually changes that players specifically request months prior and Blizzard stubbornly ignored them until they just couldn't any more.

Oct 5th 2010 7:45PM (Joystiq)Except the part where it's about people making games for kids.
I will mention that I also hate propaganda that attempts to decrease the number of little piglets I see at McDonalds and Walmart. Fast food is one of our last great frontiers, and I just couldn't live in a world where I couldn't have fries and an XL sugar drink every day. And plus, if everyone starts losing weight, I won't be able to feel good enough about myself to condescend to the "masses" and preach to them about what's in their best interest.
