I really think you're letting the BDA off the hook. If you honestly believe that members of the BDA are going to allow each other to gouge and enter into "price wars" with their respective BD players, well, it's a bit naive, that's all. The BDA is not going to allow it's own format to be dilluted by infighting. It may not be called that, but they will collude, etc and prices can easily be kept abnormally high.

Yes, I agree that others will enter the fray...but at what cost. Will Toshiba join the BDA?? Will Onkyo?? IMO, this whole thing has been garbage from the start and stinks to high hell. We all need to face it: better technology or not, the PS3 and a studios just told you all how you're going to watch HD movies for the next decade or so. I don't see the cost of the media OR the players going anywhere for the foreseable future.

I still don't understand why so many believe this format war was bad for consumers. Competition is driven by choice...competition typically leads to lower prices. Last I checked lower prices are better for the consumer.

Well, it was pretty ridiculous from the start to believe that Capcom was NOT planning on taking any advantage of the Wii's more powerful hardware.

I would have AT LEAST expected widescreen support and 480p.
