Jan 22nd 2012 9:20AM (Joystiq)And I'll have to politely disagree about that particular Sonic selection. That has some of the cheesiest lyrics I've ever heard. Best Sonic music in my book are the ones from Sonic and Sonic 2, as well as Sonic Colors.
Yeah - I'm going to go out on Saturday night (which I did) playing that in my car. You're nuts.
Why silly JRPG dialogue may not be a problem
Jan 20th 2012 11:40PM (Joystiq)Final Fantasy XII had some very well-written dialogue. The VA's were outstanding as well. It is my favorite in terms of text hands-down.

Jan 20th 2012 8:11PM (Joystiq)I've not considered RPG's to be much of a spectator thing anyway. I love them, but it's *really* boring to watch someone else play it.
Why silly JRPG dialogue may not be a problem
Jan 20th 2012 8:08PM (Joystiq)I find that even if the dialogue is somewhat quirky - I can wrap my mind around its intended meaning. In that way - it still makes sense, and it doesn't detract from the gameplay too much. I often miss many of the typos and such in games because my mind automatically fixes the mistakes.
I find that if a person reads into things too literally, and gets hung up on the beaks, they lose interest.
It's like driving down a rough road. Some people will look at the direction the road is taking, while others will focus on the condition the road is in.
In many cases, it's not the game that needs to lighten up - but it's the player that needs to relax a bit - or play something else.
Amy review: Survival boredom
Jan 18th 2012 3:51PM (Joystiq)The sad thing is - the game wins in the end. Since its a PSN title, you can't sell it, you can't return it - you can't even break the disc in a fit of rage.
You can delete it - but how satisfying is that? I want shrapnel damnit!
3DS, Nintendo lead Japan's 30 best-selling games of 2011
Jan 16th 2012 8:27PM (Joystiq)Of course - 1.6 million is nothing to slouch at - but we forget the credit -crushing 3.8 million copies of Monster Hunter 3 Freedom sold last year, as well as 2 million+ copies *each* for Pokemon Black and White. In fact - I think the top ten broke 1 million last year.
In 2009, DragonQuest IX sold 4 million+ - and I think the top 4 or so were all 2 million+ sellers (New SMB, Tomodachi, HeatGold/SoulSIlver etc.)
Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland transmutes NA and EU in May
Jan 15th 2012 3:41PM (Joystiq)I guess every game that has 'Final Fantasy' in the title means they're all related too, right? Don't be daft.
These three games are a separate story arc - just because they all have 'Atelier' in the title doesn't mean they're all related you know. Hence my comment: 'sad to see *this* little epic end."
