It's ridiculous to think that the people who read these kinds of websites, go to conventions, and go to the stores for midnight game relases... are going to give up their playstations and xboxes for ipads. That is just laughable. I think that if console sales are down, or are going to go down, it's not because gamers are choosing tablets over consoles. It's because these consoles have been out since 2005/06 and at this point pretty much anybody who wants one has one already. Over 50% of homes in america have current gen game consoles.
@Startbuttonnews That's what I did. I thought about getting the 3G service just to try it out, but decided not to. It seems like a decent deal when you consider $15 gets you two months of 3G and a game: vs $15 getting you just the game... However, I didn't want to wait a month before getting super stardust delta. Also, the 3G is ridiculously limited. No downloads over 20MB? No Netflix? Well, what's the point? The Facebook and Twitter apps? Sure, they're nice, but I have those on my smart phone. Why should I even consider paying for 3GB/month if I can't even use Netflix, and can only download 20MB files? I can use Netflix via 3G on my phone, but not on my Vita. Why? What a waste of money.
@VampireEater The difference between PSP/PSV and all those other comparisons, is that those other consoles use the same (or similar) physical format as the previous systems. GBA cart slot was designed to work with GBA/GB/GBC games. 3DS cards were designed to be similar to DS cards, so that 3DS can accept DS games. xbox and xbox 360 both use dvds. PS3 accepts bd/dvd/cd.
The Vita could have potentially used "UMD2" or something, and made it backward compatible with UMDs, but I'm sure everybody would be hating on them for not using cards. It would have been great to get a free or discounted copy of a game I bought already, but I don't think we're entitled to it. You still have the one you bought, and you shouldn't expect to get another copy for free, just because it's digital. However it does suck that Japan had the UMD passport program, and we don't. I kind of expected it to be that way because the same thing happened when the PSPgo came out.
Checking out the booth virtually is cool, since its not open to the public like PAX. PS Home wasnt working for me during the press conference but it streamed no problems on the ps.blog except when i got disconnected due to my power cutting out
