Apple TV streaming can be hindered by Google DNS

Dec 21st 2010 7:23AM (TUAW.com)
I think you just don't understand the problem. Nobody say that your IP change, the problem is the redirection to a different akamai server that may be a few hops away than the one you get if you use your isp dns.

I'll try it at home, but it is not clear it that allow to play dvd from the mac to the appletv. Is it possible to use also a slingbox feed? Or an eye-tv feed? If yes, this application will be so perfect for my setup!

That's where akamai come into play. You get the movie stream from a different akamai server, depending from your "location", that akamai try to guess with the origin of your dns query. So doing the lookup using google dns redirect you to a certain akamai server, that may be saturated at that moment. Using another dns server redirect you to another akamai server (often located directly in your isp server room), explaining why it's faster. Anyway, do what you want, but for me I'll change back my dns servers (I use opendns and google dns) on my appletv to be sure to hit the nearest akamai servers

Just try to lookup trailers.apple.com.
I think that Maller is totally right with that. If I nslookup trailers.apple.com with my isp dns servers, with googledns and opendns, I am on 3 differents akamai servers. Akamai servers "near" 8.8.8.8 have a lot more hits than others.

If you have multiples applications that start with the same letter, just continue to type the application's name, fast enough. It will highlight it.

Really, direct support for avchd?
I have to convert my .mts video from my canon hg10 with handbrake, or import them directly in iMovie, before being able to edit them. If a single app like that allow me to edit directly, I'm a buyer for sure!

What may be interesting is to "catch" an application on startup.
You start AirDisplay on the iPad, the desktop see it and launch or move a safari on it.
This way you can browse sites with flash...

GDC 2010: Street Fighter IV for the iPhone out now

Hi,

I got an idea few weeks ago, about how to "improve" games like that without a physical joystiq. I thought of trying to cut a circle on a sticky paper (the kind of paper made for decoration on windows) and stick it on my iphone screen. The problem with these games is that I always have to look at the bottom of the screen to replace my thumb. If all developpers can agree with a position/size of the joystick, maybe that solution can become a standard.

As the size of the circle, maybe we can make it the size of the button of the iphone, this way when you dont need it on the screen, you can store it there (around the button)
