If u don't have rc33 u can easily manually upload it without having to root it. But root if u can, its worth it.

my friend and i picked up one of these today. also got a black charge pack and he got one of those sweet red controllers.

I don't think the battery is 1/3 of the iphones. Its not the best but the only way my friends iphone survives the whole day is if he has his 3g turned off the whole time.
