GameStop states its case for used games and trade-ins to developers

Jan 16th 2009 9:46PM (Joystiq)
I also hate buying "new" games from GameStop which have actually been opened ("gutted" in GameStop lingo) and had the discs removed (indeed I've overheard multiple GameStop employees discussing how they play the "new" games before reselling them). The open cases and manuals are often extremely shopworn as well.

I've advised friends and family not to purchase gifts at GameStop, after receiving multiple games that were missing essential components (e.g. instruction manuals, demo discs, and even the inner or outer box!)

The rare times I've bought "new" games from GameStop I've been very careful to make sure they include everything which should be in the box (as well items which should be included outside the box such as cardboard sleeves, bonus art books, etc..)

To GameStop's credit, I didn't have any trouble returning these incomplete games (with receipt) for a cash refund - which I used to purchase the real, new, shrink-wrapped game from another store.

Additionally, I haven't had major problems with new, shrink-wrapped games ordered from gamestop.com/ebgames.com.

And Game Informer magazine is worth the $10 subscription fee.
