Online Pass game included in latest EA server shutdowns

Mar 20th 2012 12:26PM (Joystiq)
Show me one person who actually believed that the online pass system was to maintain servers.

It's pretty annoying. Especially when you consider big titles like Halo, GoW, and CoD don't have any online system whatsoever.

Maybe Nintendo will finally release GBA titles for the 3DS? Lord knows I've been waiting.

Sonic Generations review: Run-time compiler

Plus, I love how they said Sonic Colors wasn't original, as if Mario Galaxy wasn't just Mario 64 in space.

@foxhound And out of that list, some of those is opinion. I know I enjoyed Sonic 4 and Shadow wasn't all that terrible.

Even so though, it's annoying that Sega seems to be screwed regardless of what they do.

@Muffimon I agree. After awhile, Scott Pilgrim just became a grind fest. It's just bias at this point. Sega is screwed no matter what they do.

Honestly, what the hell do reviewers want? They release a 3D sonic game, they say it sucks, saying Sega should return to 2D. Sega releases a 2D game, they still say it sucks. They release a hybrid, and it's more of the same.

Meanwhile, Mario can do no wrong. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was pretty much the exact same game as the original Galaxy and people ate it up.

Sonic's getting a bad rap here. For god's sake, with the exception of 2006, none of the Sonic games have been absolutely terrible. And this is one of the best games released in a long while.

I just don't understand it.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time review: Excelsibore!

Oct 6th 2011 7:26AM (Joystiq)
It's getting kinda annoying that people seem to equate Spider-Man to free roam. Yes, it is fun to swing around a city, however if a game can deliver a great story, then the lack of free roam isn't a bad thing. And that's exactly what this game does. People seem to forget that while it was fun swinging around in Spidey 2, combat sucked and the story was just meh.

Fighting mooks, dodging attacks and hitting them with giant webfists. Crawling around air ducts and webzipping from perch to perch. Gee, I sure as hell felt like Spider-Man.

One other thing. Yes, Hyper-Sense drains your stamina, but it recharges in like...two seconds.

@BigBadBob113 Noir wouldn't have worked very well with the "Time" theme. Sure it takes place in the 20s-30s, but it's an alternate universe, while the 2099 universe is considered a possible future of the 616

@Milf Biggenson And what about Web of Shadows? That had Free Roam and was a damn good game too.

Personally, I don't think that you absolutely NEED free roam in order to have a good spidey game. As long as you can have good gameplay and tell an awesome story then I don't see much of a problem.

That being said, I do agree that one of the best features of Spidey 2/WoS was webslinging around a huge city just for the hell of it.
