PS3 Slim getting a giant mech suit bundle

I agree with Aron. I'm also a designer. I feel they're only diluting the brand power by constantly changing. Unlike el serpiente who I would say probably knows nothing of design and/or brand recognition and development, I can agree to the fact this erodes the PS3's brand. The logo of the system itself is not quite as big a deal, but changing the core fonts, and the packaging of games, is not the smartest choice. It's one thing to do it for every gen, another to do mid gen.

In my opinion Sony nailed it bang on when creating the original game cases. They are smaller than any other optical media case, and the layout was brilliant along with the unique size. PS3 games were instantly recognizable. However, now do to a complete restructuring of the packaging (aside from the size of the case), it will start to confuse consumers.

I mean I dont think the changes are profound enough that people won't even know its a sony product, but the changes will definitely create some confusion. Look what happened when Activision experimented with taking out "Call of Duty" from the title of "Modern Warfare." That is a prime example.

Bizarre stands to make $40m if Blur is a hit

So you ask why did I compare? And then in your own post, sum up what I've been saying (which was to people who liked PGR, blur may appeal, but to those who didnt like PGR, probably wont)

You sir, an idiot.

And to answer your question, I was comparing main genre's. People do it all the time comparing madden to Blitz, Tekken to UFC (i had a convo about that this weekend), etc. And from what I remember (and reconfirmed by other's comments) PGR was somewhat of an in between, not full arcade but not full sim. Gran Turismo has always had an arcade mode which felt similar, and need for speed has always been that way too.

Bizarre stands to make $40m if Blur is a hit

As someone said, coming from the developers of Project Gothem Racing, means squat to us Playstation goers. We were raised on Gran Turismo so that alone may hurt Blur. Above that, there's all the other established franchise and split second which looks cool too.

In my opinion, finding out that it was made from the same people as PGR is actually a deal breaker for me. As I mentioned, I've grown up on Gran Turismo and Need for Speed and never dug PGR. That said, I doubt I'll be grabbing this game.

Battlefield 1943 servers being added 'around the clock'

What pathetic losers. The game is online only!! Who do you not have enough hardware for an online only game to play. Incompetence at its finest!

Based on that alone I will not be buying this game. My buddy told me he got it lastnight for his 360 and the estimated wait time to get into a game was 20 minutes. 20 minutes!!! Ridiculous!

Rumor: Pictures show 'slim' PS3 model in production

May 14th 2009 10:04AM (Joystiq)
Even if that is the case, I do NOT want a giant external power supply. I absolutely hate the 360's giant brick that lays on the floor.

And I still can't see them dropping this WITH a price drop. The original slim ps2 didnt come with a price drop at first (least not that i remember).

No doubt though that one will eventually come, im just skeptical about the timing.

Rumor: Pictures show 'slim' PS3 model in production

I saw pics of the suposed slim ps3. Looks cool, but it was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin. As in tooo think to possibly be real. With the blu-ray drive, HDD, and cooling system alone, i cant see any room for all the chips and so on. However it would be somewhat cool, however i think the new PS3 logo looks sorta childish and cheap. I would like a slim ps3, but not at the cost of a ps3-rebrand while still trying to take over Xbox's share.

As someone said, a price drop is more important and I dont see how they can compress all the ps3's tech into a smaller package without using smaller and more expensive components.
