Console Wars: One year later, begun they have

Nov 15th 2007 10:13PM (Joystiq)
I really wouldn't count the Wii out at all. When Wii Fit comes out, it'll be another Wii craze all over again in the same way Wii Sports created hype and buzz and excitement for the Wii. If I were Nintendo, I'd make bundle the Wii with Wii Fit come Spring '08. As for the other systems, it's up in the air really. I just don't think PS3 is going to capture the same fanbase the PS2 did, that's for sure. And of course Smash Bros Brawl, Animal Crossing Wii, Mario Kart Wii, etc etc. It's not the hottest selling system for nothin' folks.

Thing is, there's sooo much Nintendo can do to keep the Wii selling when demand does eventually decline. Release the Wii in different colors, a price drop, bundling it with different games (Super Mario Galaxy, anyone?), adding a hard drive, etc.

Thing is, with Nintendo, they ALWAYS keep everyone in the dark. Hell, no one knows what they're planning next, but rest assured Nintendo isn't going to get lazy now that they have the gaming world's attention with the Wii and DS.

Sincerely,
Rabbid Nintendo Fanboy

Smash Bros. Brawl delayed in US until February 10, 2008

I think its for the best. It also gives third party games a chance to sell well this holiday season.

Super Mario Bros. 2, Ecco 2 and Dragon Spirit run/swim/fly onto Virtual Console

Using the Princess to fly/float FTW!

Luigi, you sucked.

Phantom Hourglass sells 350,000 copies in two days

Jun 28th 2007 9:43AM (Joystiq)
Very glad to see these high sales numbers. Makes me wonder if Twilight Princess didn't do so hot in Japan because of the limited number of Wii units available.

Good to know Zelda is still a name to be reckoned with in Japan! Now bring on the Zelda Wii info!

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass hits Japan in June (this June)

Apr 11th 2007 2:56PM (Joystiq)
Great to see it coming out so soon in Japan. Problem is, I live in the US of A. It might not necessarily come out during the holidays though. I think July is when the game is reaching our shores, but you never know with Nintendo. Either way, somehow I'm not too excited about the game because of the stylus controls. Star Fox Command was ruined for me because of said stylus controls, and I pray that Zelda: PH doesn't suffer from the same fate.

Microsoft: Wii controls don't 'kick ass'

Apr 3rd 2007 1:10PM (Joystiq)
It seems to me like the closer the Wii comes to catching up to 360 in terms of units sold, the more Microsoft disses the Wii.

I wonder how negative Microsoft's comments and thoughts on the Wii will be once the Wii surpasses the 360 in sales later this year.

Wii goes online with Mario Strikers Charged

Apr 3rd 2007 12:50PM (Joystiq)
Um, I'm a Nintendo fan and I agree that Nintendo should create new IPs for the Wii. On the other hand, I haven't ever tried a Mario sports game nor a Mario Party game. Ever.

I've told a few of my other Nintendo loving friends and they think I'm depriving myself by not doing so. Only game I love is the Mario Kart games, especially Mario Kart DS and Double Dash. Playing that with 3 or 4 players is a total blast, regardless if you're winning or losing. I might not pick up Mario Strikers Charged right when it comes out, but I have a ton of other stuff on my radar right now. Super Paper Mario first, then Pokemon Diamond is gonna suck up my whole spring and summer pretty much. Yes, I'm a Pokefreak and I'm 24 lol.

*pitiful sigh*

Time to reinvent Sonic the Hedgehog, says Sega

Mar 29th 2007 11:02PM (Joystiq)
I hope Sega actually means that, and not just saying that because of the success of Sonic and the Secret Rings. Sonic has been in dire need of a reinvention, ever since Sonic Adventure 2. Stop with the lame spin offs (Sonic Rivals, Sonic Riders, Shadow the Hedghog) and just focus on the blue hog. And I disagree with you Ludwig Kietzmann -- Sonic and the Secret Rings WAS a step in the right direction. I loved the game. The first Sonic game that had the right level of difficulty, and playing with Sonic and ONLY Sonic felt so refreshing. Only thing I wish the game had was more levels. Other than that, I loved that game.

It's time to see Sonic Team use a brand new engine for Sonic instead of reusing what seems to be the same exact game engine since Sonic Adventure.

Sonic and Mario team up for the Olympics

Mario and Sonic in a game together at last.

Bout DAMN time!

Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright) 4 won't feature English translation

Mar 28th 2007 3:38PM (Joystiq)
No big deal, really. I don't buy import games, and I have enough patience to wait for the U.S. release.
