New Pokémon revealed, gotta catch 'em all ... ALL OF 'EM!

Mar 20th 2007 1:54AM (Joystiq)
lol I think its cute that there are comments here. It's nice to know I'm not the only one that loves Pokemon games, although for me they're more like a guilty pleasure. But to answer the question....

I'd pick a Mew also. Cutest damn thing ever. And after seeing Pokemon the 1st Movie oh hell yes I'd pick Mew.

Okami creator 'disappointed' by Twilight Princess

Mar 6th 2007 1:48PM (Joystiq)
It's easy for the Okami creator says he was disappointed by Zelda TP, especially since Capcom shut Clover. Jealous much? Maybe just a little. Obviously, these games have two different graphic styles. Okami reminds me of Wind Waker and Viewtiful Joe, while Twilight Princess reminds me of Ocarina of Time but with much better graphics. It's not fair to say one is better than the other. They're just different. As much as Okami was praised by consumers and the media, the game didn't sell very well. Twilight Princess, on the other hand, did and still continues to do so.

Nintendo slow to supply retailers with fresh Wiis?

Mar 1st 2007 9:44PM (Joystiq)
I don't think it's an issue of supply. Issue is overwhelming demand. Wiis sell out within minutes, if not a few hours. And they haven't even released the black Wii yet. Nor the dvd-enabled Wii. Nor the major titles (Brawl, Galaxy, Corruption).

Since being out for only 3 months and selling over 5.2 million units, that's absolutely great. Hell, they did what no other console has done! Besides, GamePro can suck my dick. They suck. Only little kids read that mag.

PSP still hasn't reversed Nintendo's handheld dominance

Feb 27th 2007 3:09PM (Joystiq)

@ NintendoFanBot, #18

You know what, you're absolutely right about Capcom needing to support the DS. Look at how successful the Phoenix Wright franchise has been on there, in both Japan and the US! And yet, Capcom releases their main games on the PSP, like the ones you mentioned, Street Fighter and Ghosts n Goblins. And now, its happening with Capcom and the PS3, and yet Capcom says it only supports the console with the highest install base. Either someone should tell them the Wii is kicking PS3's ass right now, or Sony and Capcom have been drinking wine from the same glass lately.

PSP still hasn't reversed Nintendo's handheld dominance

Feb 27th 2007 2:52PM (Joystiq)
The way I always looked at it, the psp was always what it was named: a playstation, but portable. Some people would be attracted to the idea of being able to play your PS2 games on the go, but some like myself, don't see the need to spend $200 on a new system and $50 on games just to be able to do so, especially when the games are either PS2 ports or very similar to what the PS2 already has.

The DS is winning because it's not trying to be a handheld version of a home console. It's doing its own thing, and if anything, its the Wii thats getting DS ports (the opposite of PS2 and the PSP) since Wii already got Trauma Center, and is soon getting Big Brain Academy. It's obviously the games that make or break these systems, no matter how much Sony says their systems are not video game centric, but rather a multi-media hub.

Is it too late for the psp to overtake the ds? I definitely think so.

Wii boosts Ubisoft sales by 78% in January

Feb 26th 2007 3:04PM (Joystiq)
I bought two Ubisoft titles on launch day: Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids, both of which I sold. Red Steel's controls were not to my liking, and Rayman lost its appeal once I purchased Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. All the other games Ubisoft has on the Wii either blow chunks or have already been played on other consoles.

Vectorman of Vermillion: Spinball Oasis for Virtual Console

Feb 22nd 2007 8:00PM (Joystiq)
Joystiq, seriously. Dissing Vectorman AND Sonic Spinball was not cool.

I'm glad to see these Sega Genesis games come out for the Virtual Console, and I know more will come, especially sequels, but I want forgotten games like Eternal Champions, Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, Phantasy Star IV, Shinobi, Shining Force, Wonder Boy, and (hopefully) Sega's two X-Men games that were on the Genesis.

Metareview: Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii)

Feb 22nd 2007 4:21AM (Joystiq)
I also bought the game today, despite having worries about being disappointed with it in the same way I was disappointed with Sonic Heroes. However, I have to say that this purchase was one of the best ones I've made for the Wii so far. I've been a long time Sonic fan ever since the Genesis days, and I am very happy this title truly delivers. It's very fun, and surprisingly quite challenging. Some reviews label the game as frustrating, but its really just challenging, which is great to me because most Sonic games are easy anyway. The controls are very easy to get accustomed to, and the tutorial stages really help you out. It's also quite a long Sonic game compared to the other ones I've played (namely the ones on the Dreamcast), especially since I played a long time and still have 5 more rings to collect.

My complaints? Some level design issues (sometimes enemies or traps are unavoidable until you memorize the track), the voice actors do an impressive job but the script seems like it was written for the cartoon, and (while a minor complaint) the varius menus you have to go through until you're playing again.

The camera never gets in the way, unlike previous games, which is really nice. It's a very solid game, despite Sonic coming off of a couple of misses lately. I'd rate it an 8 out of 10 also. Doing the homing attack by thrusting the Wiimote forward just feels so right.

Donkey Kong Country and Streets of Rage headline Wii Virtual Console Monday

Feb 19th 2007 11:38AM (Joystiq)
I want Donkey Kong Country and Streets of Rage but I don't think I'll get them just yet. It's still nice to see Nintendo stepping it up with their recent VC releases. What I'm really waiting for is Punch-Out!

Still, I'm tempted to get DKC.
