A controller for the iPhone ... or bust

Oct 14th 2010 3:40AM (TUAW.com)
In fact, their own website has a photo of the first production unit. Their OWN WEBSITE!

http://icontrolpad.com/

And ordering is due to start next month.

I am, hereby, raining on your parade. Urinating on it from on high. Give up now before you waste any time/money on this. Honestly. You've been beaten to the punch by several years, with a superior device, which is in production, contains a battery, supports unjailbroken iPhones, and supports Android phones and most probably Winmo 7 phones too.

This project has failed before it's even started, and how anyone can launch into such an endeavour without doing any proper research first utterly eludes me.

A controller for the iPhone ... or bust

iControlPad is in production. What a load of misinformed balls. I suggest anyone working on ControllerOrBust give up. The Pandora/iControlPad team will tell you why. It'll take you another 5 years to get something together, and by then everyone who cared would already have an iControlPad.

Eight cruel iPad wallpaper tricks

Desperate for iPad related news much?

I can't believe nobody thought up the "slight yellow tinge at the bottom" wallpaper. Hopeless!

Microsoft multitouch mouse prototypes in action (video)

Oct 7th 2009 5:04PM (Engadget)
a) What's wrong with capacitive multi-touch, you know the tech we have already, which works, and is in thousands of devices, and must be just as flexible as resistive was... although I'm not sure what bending a resistive membrane actually does to it.

b) Haha, Dell XPS has a tiny trackpad so I can see why they went out of their way to cobble a mouse together out of a video camera and a perspex table reservation stand.

c) Apple mouse, now, please!

How would you change Snow Leopard?

Oct 3rd 2009 6:19AM (Engadget)
Let's just say I call it Slow Leopard and leave it at that.

I am, however, still in the market for a late 2009 iMac. It takes more than one bad update experience to shake my faith.

This will be the first time I've ever formatted and reinstalled a Mac without then selling it on eBay. I'm buying a new external hard disk and having a little party to celebrate.

As far as windows is corncerned, I dug my perfectly fine the last time I turned it on MCE PC from upstairs and had to format and reinstall to make it usable... Windows XP doesn't even need a power supply much less actual user intervention to screw up, it seems.

Pandora rolls into production this month, emulates Dreamcast now

Finally! A use for my ridiculously extensive collection of Dreamcast games!

Apple's new low: censoring a dictionary

Aug 5th 2009 4:16PM (Engadget)
So. Engadget takes a strong stance against "censorship"? If that's what your calling it.

I guess you'll have no objection about me saying "fuck this shit." Then.

Apple are no less censoring than any of the billions of blog sites out there who choose to filter posts including swearing, and to belittle the concept of censorship by claiming that Apple's freedom to conduct business in the way they wish even slightly resembles it is utterly absurd.

Of course, this will be all quite ironic if this post is approved.

T-Mobile G1 and Sony Ericsson X1 seen side-by-side, molten lava hangs head in shame

Oct 7th 2008 3:55PM (Engadget)
Hear hear! In my opinion both of these phones look absolutely abysmal in the above picture. The G1 looks ugly at the best of times, but most of the promotional shots I've seen of the X1 had it looking quite sexy. Looks aside, with the abortion that is Windows Mobile installed on it, it doesn't matter how good the hardware is.

I'm not feeling Android, either, but the handset is ugly enough that it doesn't matter what the OS is like, I'm really not going to give it a second look.

Android has potential though; these days there's a definite trend emerging in the Windows Mobile market of trying like buggery to hide the steaming pile of crap that is WM 6 under tons of sluggish but shiny alternative UIs. If Android can pull that off without needing the pocket equivalent of a CRAY supercomputer to make it run at a reasonable speed then WM is toast.

Yup. I bought into the iPhone. I've had my hands upon the HTC Touch Diamond and thought it was an ugly brick, I've had my fill of WM phones after the sluggish heap of crap that was the HTC Kaiser.

Just give me an iPhone clone with the same OSX derived software, the ability to multi-task and an 800*480 resolution screen and I will be even happier than I already am.
