For using "off the shelf" parts (as Sony put it a little while back), the battery life is pretty weak. Considering smartphones and iPod touches with similar specs, 3-5 for gaming is very weak. Not that the 3DS is that much better. Anyways, the Vita is still looking better than the 3DS at this point, short of a inevitable 3DS redesign.
I really do want to sell my 3DS now, but I'm not sure if I can get much for it. I honestly enjoyed Zelda 3DS (first time playing OoT) and despite the claims on the interwebz, I played through the whole thing with 3D on and had no eye problems. But, knowing that a redesign with dual analogs (I'm guessing developers really think we need them since nobody complained about dual analogs on the DS) is basically inevitable, I think I should cut my losses by selling the 3DS or better yet spend my money on the games coming out this holiday.
I'm guessing this is exclusively for Monster Hunter Tri, or it better be.
It just doesn't make sense why Nintendo would suddenly think it needs dual analogs. The DS was fine without it, and nobody complained. Only the PSP got the complaints about the lack of dual analogs. Also, the next hardware revision would be pretty significant and really screw the early adopters. Also, by the look of blurry magazine scan, it looks like the add-on is really thick (look at the third small pic on the left) and probably uses the power adapter port (first small pic on the left).
I'm not looking forward to Monster Hunter Tri though regardless. The game was too MMORPG without the MMO. I didn't like collecting all of these random items that dropped without any explanation about their uses besides experimenting with them. And, while probably not going to be an issue on the 3DS, the Wii version had waaaaaaay too much loading between areas. That disc drive was just grinding away nonstop playing the game.
A shoot 'em up, RPG/strategy, and the return of Kirby Pinball?! I hope the mini-games are fleshed out enough to not be just a bit more than just a "mini" game.
Also, I really hope the main game has some challenge to it. Since the N64 Kirby game, I don't recall playing a Kirby that was actually challenging and engaging except for Canvas Curse.
That kind of makes me sad to think the PS3 and PC versions would be that much cheaper to play even if you take Elite and the Hardened version out of the equation...

68 percent of European Xbox Live subscriptions purchased at retail
Sep 3rd 2011 2:24PM (Joystiq)This. I almost exclusively buy Xbox Live when it's one sale through retailers.
On top of that, you don't have to call them to cancel your subscription when using a subscription card. Much nicer.
