Judge disconnects alleged car-warranty "robo-callers"

Oh man, I hate those freaking commercials.

Report: Jason Rubin's Iron and the Maiden sued by ... Iron Maiden [UPDATE]

May 7th 2009 11:43PM (Joystiq)
I know it might confuse people a bit when you see Iron Maiden suing for something that might seem a bit frivilous. The fact is that in order to maintain a trademark, you unfortunately take on the burden of protecting it from time to time in order to uphold it.

They will no doubt lose the lawsuit, but they will at least have shown that they are willing to protect the value of their trademark rights, which is basically the goal here. Iron Maiden certainly is not suing for money. Nor do I think they even have anything against "Iron and the maiden". I think they're just doing what their lawyers are telling them to do in order to protect their own rights.

What can I say. I am highly impressed by all of you. It is quite refreshing to see open minds when it comes to music. Just listen to everything and like what you like, don't worry about if it's too old or not hip enough or whatever.

Just because I'm a big Maiden fan doesn't mean I can't allow myself to listen to other stuff. I've played guitar all my life too and I try not to just play rock all the time, what would be the fun in that? Jazz it up. Heck I even play the Ukulele hawaiian style if I feel like it. Why hold yourself back?

Much respect to all of you. Rock on!

Wow, I was really pissed off at that comment in the article but then the comments really made me proud...

Call me an old guy (36 is old? just wait kids, you're in for a real treat) but I've been a Maiden fan since the beginning. Of course they're still around. Nothing can stop them. Heck, Bruce Dickinson isn't satisfied just rocking out after all these years and he has to fly commercial jetliners in his spare time.

It's easy to make fun of them since they're old but if you'd actually give them a solid listen you'd be surprised.

OK, off my soap box now. Up the Irons!

Pontiac dealer offers to buy brand, GM says "Not For Sale"

May 2nd 2009 7:25PM (Autoblog)
I'm sorry but don't get your hopes up for Pontiac coming back. Do you think they'd ever bring Oldsmobile back? Once you let the dealers go like that, I doubt there is any going back.

I think they should put the G8 under the buick line. Bring it back as a Buick Grand National and it's an instant hit. I do think they need to find a way to bring Pontiac buyers in and that is one sure way to do it.

Ask Joystiq Nintendo: Donkey Kong Generation Gap Edition

Apr 16th 2009 10:08PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Answer: NOTHING

Even MS-DOS was just re-labeled software that they bought from the original developer for a ridiculousl low amount of money that they turned around and sold to IBM as licenses for every PC.

Marketing genius, but no original thought whatsoever. Nothing has changed has it?

Rock Band Weekly: Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy album

I bought one and I'd like to see you try. It is actually a kick ass album but you'd have to play a real guitar to understand that I guess, not some plastic POS one.

Trademarks hint at possible Metal Gear for arcades

That was sarcasm actually. They have that in other countries too, right?

Trademarks hint at possible Metal Gear for arcades

Arcades? What arcades? I thought those disappeared in the mid 90's?

This sounds more like a theft ring that the cops are trying to keep under wraps until they have enough info to bust the whole thing wide open. The hotel was probably supposed to stay hush hush as well, but you can bet that at some point a major bust will take place. In the short term, I am sure these richies will get a settlement from the hotel. Not like they need it.
