Boy on boy kissing in Bully
Oct 23rd 2006 6:32AM (Joystiq)This will only be news because Rockstar made the game. You can have teens kiss in "The Sims 2" and while that game got a smattering of attention from crazy people, it was simply too popular amongst mainstream gamers to be a good political scapegoat.
Rockstar's 'Bully' ironically sets itself up to get picked on. It's coming from the studio that allowed "Hot Coffee" to be released hidden within their game, and it is in a very border-line game that was designed clearly to just barely hug the line in order to obtain a Teen rating.
It's kind of sad really, because "Bully" is an extraordinarily good game that is incredibly funny and smart. My only fear with the game is not that it is inappropriate due to it's content for Teens, but that many teenagers simply won't be intelligent enough to recognize or appreciate the satire.
As far as teenage boys kissing, well, I'm a Christian, but I don't have a problem with this in games. Then again, I'm also not a fundamentalist. I don't refuse to wear clothing that uses blended fabrics, cook my meat in separate dishes and kitchens from my other food, or refuse to eat shellfish. If someone tells you that the Bible is the literal word of God then they are either a fundamentalist, a hypocrite, or ignorant. Most Christians pick and choose which portions of the Bible to talk about or follow. I find it hard to believe that God cares more about the biology of love-making than he does about how we treat one another - especially since homosexuality occurs in every species of mammal on the planet.
Microsoft to turn an Xbox profit in 2008?
Jul 28th 2006 2:03PM (Joystiq)I know this site doesn't attempt to be serious in it's journalism, but phoney quotes really cross the line. That's as bad as typing your entire post in all caps. Worse, really.
