EA releases Boggle for iPad

May 29th 2010 4:04PM (Joystiq)
For the record. . . . $1.99 is for the iPhone version and not the iPad version. Us iPad users have the privilege of purchasing the game for $4.99. At $2 I was going to purchase it and let it sit on my iPad until the next family get together, but at $5? I personally think I'll pass.

GameStop isn't worried about Online Pass

May 20th 2010 8:05PM (Joystiq)
What most people fail to see is if a trade in would usually net you $25-$30 and another consumer would buy your copy used from Gamestop for $50-$55. Now, Gamestop is going to have to offer you $10 less for your trade in because they're going to need to charge $10 less to the person buying your copy. So if you like to buy a lot of games and trade them in for newer games you'll now be receiving $10 less on your trade but you'll still need to pay $10 extra dollars to EA for the same gaming experiance you have been used to.

In the end, the consumer loses. Both of these companies will come out fine. EA will actually make more money and Gamestop should be making the same. The consumer is the only person who comes away from this deal worse then before.

As far as the whole "used game debate". Theres a huge market out there for anything used. Music, cars, houses etc. . . For some reason used game buyers are singled out as crooks and thieves for buying something 2nd hand. Does Ford go to the corner car lot and tell the dealer how he is stealing money from them? Do home builders insist that we all buy new homes or otherwise we're all immoral?

Sony's BDV-IS1000 Blu-ray HTIB reviewed: probably a skip

Jan 29th 2009 3:58AM (Engadget HD)
I bought this exact system last week and I have to say i'm pleasantly suprised. The sound coming from the tiny speakers is full and enjoyable. I did have trouble with the wireless rear speakers. After an hour or so of messing around and actually taking a break, I was able to get them working. If the rear speakers were easier to connect this system would be a perfect solution for people who can't run wires (which is the boat i'm in). I recommend this system to anyone who has a living room with limitations just be aware that the rear speakers can be problematic and some users have had trouble and some haven't been able to get them to connect at all. The user reviews of people who have got them up and running though have been excellent.
