I loved the original Ridge Racer and Type 4, but I'll leave Burnout gameplay to Burnout. Burnout Paradise is still my standard for Single Player/Online and Burnout Revenge my standard for In-house party Multiplayer
Ridge Racer and Sonic the Hedgehog seem to share the same branding difficulties, it seems.
@blahblah55 Not that I'm just into light gaming, but I find it hard to be able to do any real long form "portable" action gaming in the current version of my life. I can't picture getting into Deus Ex 3 on the subway, and NOT being paranoid about theft. Let alone having to carry yet another portable device, JUST for pleasure, aside from my phone, music player, ereader, and laptop.
I think this is one of the problems with portable gaming today... these devices do only one job and adults are "generally" losing interest and would rather save real gaming for the couch, and slice few fruit on the go to work or school to pick up the kids. The "kiddie" kids are having a great enough time playing with phones and PMP's...it seems like the only real large market left (aside from "gamers") are elementary and high school children, who may or may outgrow it depending on whether they connect with a portable only IP that keeps them embedded (ie: Pokemon)
Thanks, but no thanks. Portable gaming has reached an impasse, for me, at least. At this point, either PS Vita has a great games library to sell me on, or I stick with my smartphone for the light gaming I may do during the little off-time between client work.
@joer22784 OR They're just setting you up to believe that in the trailers and throughout the beginning of the game, only to shatter that opinion midway. The Deus Ex series is known for betrayal and mistrust, right?
Microsoft is a company that, in my opinion, specialize in quality software. Sony is a company that, in my opinion, specialize in quality hardware.
I have an XBox & PS3 and I personally like the PS3 more, but honestly most of the problems this whole gen, including this one, pan out in these terms.
Microsoft needed a bunch of third parties (or more) to verify and do QA on their hardware, which I assume they eventually did. Sony, to this day, has yet to get a bunch of third parties to verify and do QA on their software. It looks like their security will now be QA'd. but internally, and the UI will most likely stay the same.
@Vidikron Well that's rather disappointing... What about the DSi? They seem to be responding and acknowledging (in other words, owning up to it) the problem here, so I'm hoping that in some future HARDWARE (sigh) revision, they address it.
Right now the 3DS is getting some choppy and bad press, between Kotaku's recent "buy early=meh" and all the hardware/software issues. As we ride into the NGP release I wouldn't want these things to linger.
