for those who are probably frowning or are not happy with this news..
Reliance has VERY DEEP pockets and a really LARGE resource, which is probably a really GOOD news for Codemasters as a developer. It could'nt have been better for them than this.
@ sean. it's becoz they need to constantly innovate and and differentiate their products to appeal the masses, not like apple where ppl will buy crap just becoz they think that it's supposed to be cool, inspite of a gazillion restrictions and incompatibilities just becoz of the hype.
OLPC is more than enough for a child. esp if it's ur first one. That way no one would have bought PC's back in the 80's cause they were sooo boring (CUI). The Sugar GUI may seem useless to you. But it definately wont be the case for someone who grows up learning it.
AFAIK, the $30 device was a means to access the internet on wifi and is a portable device, powered by a power pc. and yes it has a screen (small). It was never meant as a OLPC replacement , it is infact a device developed for students of universities, and not tiny toddlers. It is a device that connects to a central database and enables the students to acess the govt's E-Book's and E-Resource library.
Sure, If you dont want to live long then play it. Tech2 (indian site) gave it a 0.5/10. Indian Studios dont have the reqd experience to produce good quality AAA games. They need to mature.
reminds me of the aibo and the qrio, both of which were atleast a gazillion times better than this. they were a lot more likeable inspite of the fact that too were very very expensive.
