Rumor: BioShock movie murmurs in Hollywood

Jan 9th 2008 1:01AM (Joystiq)
Oh and to all the people complaining about Hollywood not having any "original" ideas"

If you really want to blame someone for the load of crap produced each year, blame moviegoers like yourselves. You pay the money to see the crap.

Rumor: BioShock movie murmurs in Hollywood

Jan 9th 2008 12:54AM (Joystiq)
I don't care what everyone has said, I want a Bioshock movie without CG.

Maybe I'm just wearing my rose tinted glasses again, but I love the tactile feel of older movies without CG generated sets. I just love looking at the props and architecture and marveling at how much detail and time went into crafting them. Just thinking about how they could construct Bioshock's leaking, art deco city gives me the goosebumps. And the lighting situations that a good cinematographer could come up with..

Don't get me wrong, I don't think movies that depend on CG are bad. It would be extremely unfortunate if I did, considering that I'm trying to study to become a 3D animator to work in movies. However, sometimes I do think CG is abused a little by filmmakers. Although in their defense, who wouldn't use a technology that allow you to make huge elaborate sets at minimal costs as much as possible.

Maybe I'm pursuing the wrong career choice. God do I miss those Jim Henson puppets. Just thinking about a lifescale Big Daddy puppet makes me drool...

The link goes to the /po/ board in 4chan. Don't worry, it's safe. They're actually quite friendly there.

That IS very cool. I give a big round of applause to dedicated fans who made this.

Steamy action as Wii & Zelda get ready to ship

Nov 13th 2006 6:32PM (Joystiq)
The music is what really made the vid special. I just felt like pouring some champagne, laying out the satin sheets, and turning the mood lighting on to 'sexy'.

I heard Zelda was quite a monster in the sack. 70+ hours of sweet, sweet loving. Awww yeah :D

Metapreview - Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)

Nov 4th 2006 4:59PM (Joystiq)
I am so hyped right now. This game is really going to rock. I'm glad the Wii version is getting good things said about it, but I'm still going to get the GC version simply because I'm a stubborn Zelda fanatic who finds the idea of changing the franchises long established perfect controls somewhat revolting. I'm going to get a Wii though and play the GC version on the Wii. I just have to wait for my birthday to come around in December.

Trolls always make me sad, simply because they are missing out on one of the greatest game franchises in the history of videogaming. I lament for you gaming souls...

I swear, #40 though must not be older than 12. Shoddy graphics? Sure they may be bad now, but so are the graphics for every game made in 1998.

Zelda Twilight Princess trailer and title intro

Nov 2nd 2006 4:19PM (Joystiq)
I came...explosively.

But I really wish I didn't watch the opening title seequence. I should of controlled myself and waited. Anyway, the one thing I noticed the most about the title sequence was the music. Some very atmospheric vocal work there, and I think it sounded like the used some real intruments too (but it's a bit low in quality so I can't tell for sure). One of the biggest changes I've alwats wanted to happen to a Zelda game is the implementation of some quality orchestral scores. MIDI is good to an extent. But IMO, nothing beats out hearing a rising symphony culminating to a climatic clash as you land a final blow to an enemy. The trailers that have some out so far seemed have given me the impression that we can look forward to some orchestra music as you plau.

I am really digging this art style. I thought the black and white twilight world was neat, but this really blows it out of the water.

In before, NEXT GEN BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!! ^_^

I have great faith in the Wii but I'm going to wait for the GC version. For one, I still don't think the control scheme on the Wii will be as natural as it for the GC. Secondly, I don't have enough money to buy a Wii.

So yeah, when Nov. 19 comes around I am offically cutting myself off from the internet. If anybody spoils the game for me, I swear, I'm going to shove the nearest handsized object down their throats.

Why Microsoft should and shouldn't make the Xboy

Oct 26th 2006 2:53PM (Joystiq)
I can't really imagine Microsoft making a handheld. Not at this moment at least. The Xbox line first needs to get a strong footing in the console market. They have one now simply because the Xbox360 is the only next-gen console out there. But when the PS3 and the Wii come out, that could change very quickly.

That and I'm a Nintendo fanboy. If a handheld device doesn't come with Mario and Zelda then I'm not going to buy it. Plain and simple.

Legend of Zelda video retrospective (part 1)

Oct 14th 2006 4:15PM (Joystiq)
My first Zelda game was Link's Awakening when I was six. Sadly, my little six year old mind could not figure how to get to the first dungeon, so my babysitter beat it for me as I watched over his shoulder. Good times, good times...I look forward to the next installments.
