@ThatPete I completely agree, but I think it would be cool if XBL Indie games could give out even just 10 gamerscore, I think it'd be pretty funny to get 1g for beating a boss, or 2g for completing the whole game. That'd be a nice little incentive, but still not enough to make it worth buying spam achievement games.

The reason for this is because Basch was originally supposed to be the main character:
"Basch was initially meant to be the main character of the story, but the focus was eventually shifted to Vaan and Penelo when the two characters were created later in development.
The development team explained that their previous game, Vagrant Story, which featured a "strong man in his prime" as the protagonist had been unsuccessful and unpopular; the change regarding Final Fantasy XII from a "big and tough" protagonist to a more effeminate one was thus decided after targeting demographics were considered."

This is widely considered the main reason that the producer and co-director Yasumi Matsuno left the development of the game (and not due to 'health concerns' - the reason SE gave). FF12 had the potential to be up there with the best in the series, it's just a shame that Square Enix felt the need to crow-bar in a teenage, shirtless main character to try and get more sales.

Square-Enix really shot themselves in the foot during the development of FFXII. Long-live Matsuno!

@GumbyX I agree with you, Clover being shut down sucked, but Capcom milking Clover's games is nothing new, they've been doing it with Viewtiful Joe for a while (all those DS games and he's in TvC too).
