If there's one thing for certain, I'm a sucker for top-down shooters. I don't care if its planes, cars, sharks with laser beams or flying doo-doo shooting poo at other flying pieces of crap, I wanna play it.
Well, I'll check out the demo FIRST, of course, to make sure it's worthy of my points...
Sony had a tent at Lollapalooza and were demo'ing a bunch of 3D games... I don't know, I was not impressed at all. The 3D was complete garbage. If Sony is trying to convince people into 3D gaming, then they screwed the pooch at Lolla... that's 3 days of thousands of people walking away all saying things like, "Oh, it wasn't all that, it's barely 3D".
@ModernTenshi04 So you felt the same about the PSP when it first came out, right?
Regardless.... as someone who already owns 3 different consoles, I find it MORE ridiculous that my friends are ditching perfectly good-working Xboxs just to get a Slim... paying $300 for something new and different makes sense... paying $300 for something you already own just cause the newer one is new, that's stupid.
I'd also rather spend $300 on a 3DS over $200 for Natal.
The PSP drove me away from handheld gaming, the 3DS will bring it back.
You're absolutely right. I've owned an Xbox since year one and always had the 20GB hard drive. That drive was faulty/corrupt and I ended up buying a 60GB drive for the heck of it... but to this day, I still only really use around 20GB. I understand why some people might need 250GB, but not all of us. My Xbox is a gaming machine, nothing more. For digital entertainment, I buily my own HTPC... so everyone is diffrent, this is true.
However, the one thing I will point out though is that the pricing is WAY OFF. If the 250GB is $300, then $200 for a 4GB model is a completely rip off. The ONLY way its feasible is like you said: If you already have some flashdrives or USB hard drives lying around not being used. Otherwise, to go buy the 4GB Arcade + additonal flashdrives... then you might as well kick in a few exta bucks and get the 'Pro' model.
Uhhhh... maybe I'm wrong, but I thought one of the main factors of the new 'Slim' models is that there are NO external HDs? The 250GB model is all internal, and the 4GB model is flash mem.
So in other words, you would *need* to rely on USB flashdrives for memory if you go beyond capacity of either.... hence the reason why MS added USB flashdrive/memory support to Xbox a couple of months ago. The limitation of only being able to utilize 16GB is so that you couldn't buy a super cheap 250GB external drive somewhere and use it with the Arcade model and save money.
250GB is worth the $300 price tag; 4GB is hardly worth $200.
I'll stick to my 60GB white FatBox for now, thanks. I have no reason to get rid of it. I can't justify re-buying an Xbox... if I get a new console, I might as well get something different ot supplement my Xbox, like a PS3 or Wii. (actually, I'm saving my clams for 3DS... which isn't until next year, but whatever...)
