If I get fired from my job for smoking crack, is it right to start pointing out all the co-workers I know who smoke weed?
Its a bitch move.
a> If Apple gets sued over 'antennagate', then he just sent an invitation out to sue all other manufacturers b> The problems he showed with "all cell phones" is NOT QUITE the same as what's wrong w/ the iPhone, and it's misdirection/misinformation he's using to try to deflect the criticisms c> NO ONE is complaining about those other handsets or companies... people are focusing on the iphone (whether out of some fad-like trend or because they really do have issues, don't matter)... so Apple needs to worry about Apple (I could go one about this all day... for example, how much time was spent testing these other phones? Isnt' that more time and resource they could have put into checking out their own problem a litte more? How much money was spent to try to prove someone else's property is as bad as yours??") d> Seriously backlash... not talking about these tit for tat comments either, I mean Jobs just opened the door for every one of these manufacturers and independent testers to start running some serious comparisons. Whats going to happen if these companies find and show proof that the iPhone has a much more serious problem and their phones have none? FOOT IN MOUTH. Its no big deal for ME to put my foot in my mouth sometimes... but Steve Jobs and Apple? Thats a public relations disaster waiting to happen.
From what I understand (and maybe I'm not understanding it right), but its still 2 different issues!
Imagine you're trying to fill up a kiddie pool (your phone) with water (signal). Things keep running between stream, blocking the water from getting into the pool. From my understanding:
All cell phones: Its like someone runs in front of your stream and blocks the water with their chest. The water bounces off them, but it still flows and splashes around them... you still get some water in your pool, even with the degradation. All cells are like this, including the iphone.
iPhone antenna problem: Instead of someone just blocking the water stream into your pool, they actually open their mouth and start swallowing all the water coming from the hose. All they have to do get is get in the right spot in the right position and they absorb all your water. They might not be able to do it for a long period, maybe even a second, but that second is long enough to completely stop the flow of water into your pool.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure some jerky fanboys or know-it-all tech geeks will trash me, but that's ok. Correct me if I am wrong. But that's how I'm understanding the problem... which is telling me the iPhone has its own problems ON TOP of the usual antenna strength issues you'd get with any cell phone.
Here's a crazy idea: Come out with BETTER f'n games and not re-hashed crap sequels.
The games he mentions... they happen to be GOOD games period.
This summer has seen CRAP. What were the 2 big Xbox games this summer? Red Dead and Alan Wake. Alan Wake sure is pretty and I absolutely love the art/story... but come on, the gameplay is BORING and unchallenging.
Stupid, I hate these experts and execs who come up with a million reasons for lulls in sales when the answer simply is: There hasn't been any new games WORTH their plastic in buying.
I have to disagree. In an RPG, YOU are the character, the character is not you. And yes, there's a big difference in what I just wrote.
2nd, RPG is just a GENERIC term... technically, ALL video games are a type of 'RPG'. Don't you play the role of a quarterback in Madden? Right. You don't play the role of a driver in Burnout?
So to me, there are certain traits and aspects (and I'm NOT referring to 'genre' like sci-fi or fantasy) applied to PC/digital RPGs to set them apart from action games, sports games, etc.
These traits are typical and if anyone ever pays attention to what BioWare has done in the last 10 years, they are consistently trying to bust those RPG stereotypes... at the same time, they are trying to make 'casual' RPGs that anyone can play. There is nothing wrong with that at all and BioWare makes some of the best games ever. There's no question that ME is an RPG. But ME2 is LESS of an 'RPG' than ME1 was, and not to shock a lot of people here, but some of us actually LIKED those conventional RPG elements that are now gone.
Is ME2 a Triple-A, 5-star game? Absolutely. But it was different enough to make people notice that it's really NOT the same game as ME1 was. BioWare calls it 'improvements', but its really more like an overhaul. Most people are ok with it, I take it for what it is, but people who don't like ME2 for these reason have very valid points as well.
All in all... I love ME1, I like ME2, and I sure as hell miss KOTOR 1 & 2 that much more after playing ME2.
It was just GRINDING. That's what was wrong w/ the Mako portions. All you had to do to find crap was go from one corner of the map to the next and it would magically appear on your map. That's it. So for that, I had to suffer driving a vehicle that seemed to be moving at a half mile per hour? BORING. It was just outright boring.
Next time you need to pick up somethng from the store, don't go faster than 1MPH and see if you enjoy it.
It was just an unnecessary device used to make the game longer, nothing entertaining or interesting about it and what ever loot you found, it was either a collectible (like Turian insignias) or rarely something of real value. All they had to do was make that Mako a little faster and there would have been a lot less complaining.
At least in ME2, they tied exploring to your upgrades... so if you want better weapons, you HAVE to explore. They gave it a real purpose... but guess what? the exploring in Me2 is equally as boring.
Because we all have Smart... oh. I guess not. Or perhaps the same as Red Bull Suzukis, Truly Nolen V-dubs, and the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile? Whereas odd little cars = attention = ADVERTISEMENT?
Although... anyone driving around in a Weinermobile must definitely be one of us.
And speaking of the Red Bull suzuki.... the other day I was coming out the gym and it was there and I swear 2 of the HOTTEST chicas came out of that thing, decked out in Red Bull gear from head to toe, handing out free Red Bulls. So yeah, I ain't knockin the Red Bull suzuki, not if that's what's behind the wheel!!! Now is making me wonder who's in that Verizon SMARTcar!???
"Can you hear me now? Yes? Good. Can you SEE me now? No? Great!"
BTW... none of youse engadget writers made me chuckle. You all FAIL. OK, I'm being harsh... Nilay made me smile and Thomas got me to gurgle. Try doing a search on Amazon for books about "wit".
