Revolution's virtual console: to rent or own?

Apr 19th 2006 9:20AM (Joystiq)
Why not offer all these options to the player? Their mantra seems to be that Nintendo is about choice.

En garde! First person swordplay on the Revolution

I don't know how many sword games we will have on Rev. It's innovative once, but never again, so hopefully not too many.

Retail sales now in their sixth month of decline

Hmm, I think you guys are underestimating the effect that the direction of the industry has taken on the everyday gamers who only buy games occasionally. I went into a Borders the other day to find them selling off their entire stock of games at 75% off. Fact is, people aren't buying as many games as they used to. The reasons for this are up for debate, but this is not seasonal, I assure you.

Revolution launch news

The interactive capabilities will either be some sort of resistance to moving your hand, or trackpad-like nubs on the buttons themselves.

It would be nice for either of these things to happen, or both. I remember reading that resistance to tilting was possible to be achieved using gyros, which is exactly what the controller uses to sense tilt. The motion bar just senses position and depth.

I can definitely see the buttons acting like trackpads, though. Imagine being able to slide your thumb over that A button and have another level of control in games. This seems to make the most sense when I hear "touch sensitivity".

New Super Mario DS live footage

I think he means the name "New Super Mario Bros." blows. I keep asking, and no one seems to know, is this really Really REALLY going to be called "New Super Mario Bros." when released? I mean, come on. New?

That enamel navy is the shit!
Perfect deep, dark, midnight blue-black.

It's alive! Nintendo DS lite in the flesh

Feb 9th 2006 9:51AM (Joystiq)
Strange, that spot where the GBA game goes is white and not shaped at all like a cartridge. This is either some sort of plastic cover over an empty slot, or a product of the prototype.

DS lite vs. DS comparison

I think the greatest thing about this design is the touch screen. Notice how it is raised against the rest of the buttons. Also, it doesn't seem to sit inside the case like the old design. This means no crumbs getting in that little wedge, and may even mean a firm and resilient new touch screen.

Yay!

Nintendo 2006: hopes and expectations

Jan 18th 2006 9:05AM (Joystiq)
A few questions. Is the new super mario brothers Really REALLY going to be called "New Super Mario Bros."? I sure hope not. They could just say "Super Mario Bros." and add some tagline to it...

Why only 4 titles? I know developer support is big for this thing. I predict at least 8 third party titles at launch.
