Review: iPhoto '11 is a very mixed bag

Oct 30th 2010 1:33PM (TUAW.com)
I kind of wish they just gave it a nice tune-up. I don't really care for how they handled the email system, wish it was integrated better with the end users email application rather than overriding it.

I don't want it to turn into a photo editing application though. I think it's focus should be photo management and sharing. The light tools available are just enough to do a few things before export or sharing.

With the amount of bad press overall, I will wait to upgrade. Unless I end up in an Apple store anytime soon - lol.

New Xbox 360 controller with twist-up D-pad coming Nov. 9, bundled with charge kit for $65

Aug 31st 2010 4:49PM (Joystiq)
Am I the only one who see's a standard controller nearing 70 dollars? If you buy a new XBOX, you get 1 of these. That's $200 bucks to put out for another 3.

I thought spending the current $50 per controller was ridic.

Foul Ball? MLB inserts ads into At Bat 2010 for iPad

Jun 4th 2010 12:52PM (TUAW.com)
MLB is a pretty uncaring organization, much like big business. They will brand any part of their presence.

Have you watched MLB Network? Every last minute of every show is sponsored. They had sponsored standings. WTF?

And here - right on the main screen, along side the MLB logo they are willing to trade ad space for money.

I love baseball, the app is pretty good (not awesome), but MLB is a serious money whore.

I'm not surprised by this, but at the same time I do get offended when Im oversold to.

Web Hosting Reviews lets you pick a host that's right for you in a jiffy

May 18th 2010 1:39PM (Download Squad)
A very nice tool you have there, I think it would be far better to rate individual services of each host rather than the host completely.

Because shared hosts are generally second-rate accounts, and perform terribly as opposed to dedicated servers. Which could have 2 different reviews.

Hulu says HTML5 'doesn't yet meet all of our customers' needs'

It's kind of annoying Engadget doesn't use inline links for external sites.

Apple's patent for Concert Ticket+ could change your concert experience

Apr 20th 2010 2:06PM (TUAW.com)
I spent about 2 hours buying tickets through TicketMaster the other night (granted it was on my iPhone) but damn was it painful.

I saw this and was like - I really could have used this the other night.

I could see it as an iTunes interface, and just buy the damn tickets!
Done!

Ticketmaster is an exercise in pain. And I'd pay for the real 'convenience' fee to iTunes since they would make sure its convenient!

Marketcircle announces Billings Pro, needs beta testers

Apr 18th 2010 10:54AM (TUAW.com)
I agree with just about everything here, as well as what others are saying.

Billings is a great app, but as a company MarketCircle seems to be looking to nickel and dime their customers a bit much. The mobile pricing, and now new software which is 'pro' version which is obviously going to use the same code base as Daylite to run the client/server setup. I do wish they'd get their software really solid first. I feel like it must be a 2 man operation over there because things get started but they never seem to get finished.

Their updates seem to always add a new issue. In the last update, we lost our email invoice function which in my eyes is a HUGE bug. Should have been fixed immediately but instead, we have to use the workaround and mail files manually. This was about 2 weeks ago with no update yet.

Daylite is another story - the interface I agree is cluttered, and has a feel of the OS 9 days. Syncing problems often, and server crashes quite a bit (which I suspect is Daylite related). The 3.9 update pretty much killed our database which thankfully had only a weeks worth of data (we just started using it).

Blizzard selling armored horse in WoW for $25

Is this the future of gaming?
Buy tiny little parts of it for almost as much as the game itself?

iPhone OS 3.0 breaking video out

Aug 31st 2009 8:05PM (TUAW.com)
This has pissed me off for a while now.

I have $300 Bose box that I can't use because from iPhone version 1 - iPhone 3G, something changed either with the software or hardware or both.

I also had $70 Monster tuner which I can no longer use.

What a waste of money.

Found Footage: Kevin Rose on iPhone 3.0 features

While it sounds like a lot of steps, it sounds like a clear way you are selecting exactly what you want.

If you select by simply dragging, you'd never get what you wanted first time. Remember, the input device is your(mine) fat finger.
