Duke Nukem Forever review: Fail to the King, Baby

Jun 14th 2011 8:23AM (Joystiq)
@Red Runner

I never claimed "PC games are better than console games". You made that assumption all on your own. I said that Duke Nukem Forever is obviously better on the PC. The PC version doesn't have any of the technical problems the 360 version has, and the metascores obviously reflect that. 45 seconds of loading time does not make an action game that appealing.

I play PC games when I can because I spent 300 on my video card and I am not going to let it go to waste. The 360 wired controller also plugs in and most games support it so sometimes it is like playing on a Super Xbox 360. I also play tons of console games when they have their place, such as Mortal Kombat or Wipeout HD. You obviously can't play these on PC so in this case, consoles rule. Xbox live is also a service that beats any other gaming platform when it comes to online gaming. When I take gaming on the go (to the shitter), I bring my 3DS along. I could set my PC up in there, but I'm allergic to inconvenience.

You can start your own gaming platform debate if you want. They're all worth their weight somehow.

The original Duke Nukems and Duke Nukem 3D were all computer based games. They were ported to consoles later. I was advising anyone that was sitting on the fence about this game that they won't have problems the reviewer mentions if they use a PC because it was developed for PC and ported to consoles. You can tell from the shitty aiming on 360.

"Seriously, PC gamers are such jackasses sometimes..."
There's no need for name calling.

"Still doesn't automatically make your precious PC games superior."
That is fine. You are entitled to your opinion. I am guessing from the error in grammar that you are not capable of enjoying superior PC games, so you would not know any better. I will enjoy them for you with the rest of us elite PC douche-bags. You enjoy your busted copy of Duke Nukem like this fine reviewer did, and don't actually bother to help out anyone that wants to enjoy the game better, because that is not at all what I was trying to do.

"Yeah, and?"
That comeback pretty much made me the winner of this edition of comment arguments. Thanks for playing.

PC douchebaggery elitism doesn't have 45 second load times, aiming lag, or screen tearing, jackwagon.

as of this comment:
duke nukem 360 metascore: 50
duke nukem ps3 metascore: 62
duke nukem PC metascore: 76

you made the mistake of playing it on the 360. all duke nukem console games blow. what were you thinking?

if anyone reading this is considering it, get the PC version. it kicks ass. I had none of the problems this guy is talking about.

and if anything, this game helps the industry try to grow a pair of balls. i am sick of hearing about angry birds and farmville and all that stupid crap.

Sony plans to keep PSP downloads at 'pricing parity,' whatever that means

exactly. it's NOT awesome. there was a point in time i actually used to like sony.

i can no longer defend them at all.

i want to type 'at least they won the format war, and dropped the ps3 price finally.'

but that's like saying, 'at least he didn't knock the baby out when he punched it'

way to go, sony.

@Sam: try the .jpg's instead. or, the photos are still on your ds and you never transferred them to your SD Card from the DS's memory. Once they're on the SD Card, they're in a DCIM folder like every other digital camera stores them.
