Pachter places prediction on May NPD numbers

Jun 12th 2007 10:59AM (Joystiq)
Tho Michael Pachter is paid the big bucks to come up with the numbers, thesimexchange.com is using the 'wisdom of the crowds' with its 5000+ users to make its predictions (and for free!).

Here's the predictions for US sales May 2007:

XBox 360 - 208,000 units sold
PS3 - 80,000 units sold
Wii - 393,000 units sold
DS - 492,000 units sold
PSP - 176,000 units sold

Last month the predictions were off about 10%, so we're optimistic that this month number will be rather close.

PlayStation 3s fetching less than retail on UK eBay

@sheppy, just wondering whether the attach rates count Wii Sports being bundled with the Wii console in NA, and compared to the PS3 where gamers are forced to buy a game to play with the console?

Viva Pinata was the most traded because a lot of people were sure that it'll be a sleeper hit and bought massive amounts of stock, and when the December sales figures were released everyoned cashed out due to the low numbers sold.

Lara looks kinda tired if you ask me.

The model is not realistic at all, it looks exactly the way it was when it came out years ago. There's nothing hot, saucy, or droolworthy about it.

If they released it as a free sampler, then we're back to the good ole shareware model of distributing software, which, when paired with something like XBox Live is the perfect way of getting good games out there while rewarding the really good game developers.

Microsoft should've really just open up the XBox Live marketplace, release all games for free and let the market dictate which games they'd want to pay the full versions for.

I don't agree with Gamespy. For a lot of people, they just want to play an addon that just works, and not in constant beta status. And trawling through the mod database takes a lot of time to seperate the wheat from the chaff, so I'm glad the Civ team released something fresh for an old game.
