It's both comforting and concerning that others have been experiencing the same issues. With that said, it's obvious that AT&T must be aware of some kind of problem with the data plan/data usage measurement. Time to step up and at least publicly acknowledge the issue, AT&T.

Not jailbroken, so it sounds like it rules out my wifi hack theory. There is definitely nothing uploading in the background that I put on there, unless there is some malicious code built into an app downloaded from the iOS app store.

What say you, AT&T?

Very interested as I recently had "phantom" data usage on my account as well...like 170MB of data UPLOADED from my phone while I was watching TV with my wife. Called AT&T and they couldn't explain. I was logged into a random wifi network at the time so my theory was that a neighbor somehow figured out how to hack into my phone and upload data to through the 3G connection while the phone was in standby. AT&T upgraded me to the 2GB plan for that month for free. Needless to say, I'm keeping tabs on this story.

I own a 3GS and love it and am generally a fan of Apple products, but PR BS is shady and pretty whack. Lettin' me down, Apple. Time to fall back and regroup.

This should be... interesting. Saab definitely needs help to compete with all the aforementioned, but this guy doesn't live up to the hype, IMO.

This is the kind of guy who buys a FULLY restored classic car just to rip the engine out of it. Dude, you could have just spent $500 million on hiring a team to create an OS. Investment FAIL.
