I ordered thru the app store, got an email confirmation.

Went to the Apple Store after work just to make sure. Confirmed my name is on the reserved list. Also confirmed the full price on the email means nothing and you can go on 6/24 anytime b4 closing to pick one up.

Well I pre-ordered mine thru the app. Yes the confirmation email does say $699, but I honestly don't think that's gonna be a problem when I pick up and activate in store. The app did ask for your AT&T account info so I think it's a non-issue.

Another cool thing is they promise you can stop by the store anytime during launch date to pick it up. That means I could go during lunch or even after work. Of course I "could" but I won't. I'll be there as soon as the mall opens :-D

Hey the Apple iPhone page says it will shipped "as soon as your iPhone is available"... is that really a guarantee for 6/24? Maybe I should go into the store...

As a Chinese American, this is the dealbreaker for me. As soon as the new iPhone comes out I'm buying it. I'm tired of typing Chinese the Hong Kong keypad way ugh

hmm... after reading all the comments I'm pretty sure I won't get the AppleTV, simply coz I watch a lotta Hong Kong dramas downloaded from bt...

But what other options are there for me to connect in PC to my TV? I've read Xbox and Netgear, how exactly do they work?

Also, if I wanna use my tv as a computer monitor, how would I do that? Is connecting the pc directly to the tv with an "s-output" or something the only way?

All I know now is that AppleTV isn't what I'm looking for :-(

I think, ultimately, after reading all the articles and comments, I'll just wait for a gen2 on the iPhone front, and a widescreen iPod on the iPod front.

After remembering the gen1 iPod I'm really not sure if it's worth $600 just to have a better one next year... and I'm hoping that Steve might still put out a widescreen, 30gb iPod... Altho from a business standpoint I guess that would discourage people from making the jump to iPhone... which means in terms of good business they probably won't put out a widescreen iPod at all and just improve/update the iPhone once a year :-(

I guess what it comes down to is: get an iPod now, wait a year or 2 on the iPhone.
