Mar 19th 2012 10:15PM (Joystiq)whoa, whoa man, calm down. What the people did with taking the money and purposely holding out on paying debts is straight up stealing, not capitalism.
Capitalism is Dark Energy Digital being shut down because they have a crappy product that nobody wants to buy so the market flushes them out of the system making way for new businesses to come in and compete. That is the beauty of capitalism and what benefits us consumers so much. It causes prices to go up or down based on supply and demand and in this case, if the game sucks, the demand drops and the product and producer are no longer needed so it gets flushed out.
Now, about the employees. It sucks being unemployed, I've been there, I've done it, and it isn't fun. It is stressful like nothing else. BUT, when you sign a contract to work somewhere, you are offering your services for wages, nothing else. Insurance and 401ks and all that stuff are BENEFITS. Employers need not include this with their promises to pay an individual for service rendered. Additionally, employees also take risks prior to signing up for a company by risking to go with Company A over Company B. If Company A sucks and goes bankrupt, the employee took the risk and lost his job. If they went with Company B instead and Company B was AWESOME AND MADE MONIES all the time, the risk paid off. Hope this helps clear up some misunderstandings about economics.
And please don't get me started on crony capitalism...
