I've never gone Prestige. I've come close... but never hit that point.

As a fan of the McFarlane toys, I'm in for one of the I'mgoingtoregretthis Editions. I shudder to think that this game might just be awful though.

Square Enix responds to Deus Ex racial controversy

@embassy

I am on the phone with kids from Detroit (among other areas) quite frequently. I can think of at least 10 students, off the top of my head, that absolutely speak like that. They aren't vagrants, either, but kids that are trying to graduate high school. I've never met any of these students face-to-face, so I can't vouch for the colour of their skin, but I can absolutely in full faith say that there are people who speak like Letitia (with similar and often more interesting names).

Deus Ex: Human Revolution conspiracy hints at new content

Sep 1st 2011 11:32AM (Joystiq)
@ShivanSwordsman

Playing through the game as my first playthrough, I can honestly say that I don't feel like the content was "skipped". The game feels complete, it tells the story it wants to tell and whether or not 50% of the content was cut... I can't really tell. In short, I don't feel like I'm getting screwed out of 50/60 bucks (depending on platform). There's a good chance that the DLC could be released, and I still wouldn't feel like I'm missing out when I don't purchase it. No way to know for sure though, until the announcement is finalized.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel ban proposed in Mexico

Feb 22nd 2011 7:44AM (Joystiq)
@I am a machineee

There are a lot of issues at play here. On the one, there is the obvious issue of censorship. There isn't much to say about that, except that's what it is.

The other big issue has been mentioned a bit, and that is how the game is portraying the situation. If it's glamorizing the drugs and violence and making it seem attractive, in an area where the drugs and violence is already taken to extremes, then perhaps the game truly is in bad taste and needs to be shelved. If it is a realistic portrayal, or the game is used as a medium to critique the situation, then it is 100% legit and I would argue probably NEEDS to be released. Unfortunately I don't know much about it beyond what I've read here on Joystiq. Much like Six Days in Fallujah, it is perhaps close to home and a little too true for people to be comfortable with the idea, but that is part of what art is all about.

Also as has been pointed out, Mexico has bigger problems to deal with than wasting the resources necessary to ban this game. Banning the game is not going to magically make the violence go away. Honestly, it probably will not have any effect on the situation at all, whether it is released or not.

That was longer than intended, so I'll stop now.

Sony finally releases official statement on PS3 jailbreak

@BlazeKing

It's also an extremely inexpensive cell processor, which is the main draw. It might not run Linux well, but if somebody is looking to play around with programming for the cell architecture than you couldn't beat the OtherOS.
