Video: Shiny Xbox prototype in Ninja Gaiden II
Jun 1st 2008 8:34PM (Joystiq Xbox)It was in the very first version on NG, in some alley-way across from the bar in the city (no idea what the names are). It refilled your ninpo and health, which made it perfect for saving up essence for all the weapon upgrades later in the game.
Good to see the developers have a sense of humour.
Video: Resident Evil 5, zombies, death and blood
May 31st 2008 5:09PM (Joystiq Xbox)X3F TV -- X3F Impressions: Ninja Gaiden II demo
May 31st 2008 7:31AM (Joystiq Xbox)Fun? Very yes.
Addictive? Well, I constantly played the original through a torrent of dirty disc errors, replaying the same unsaved sections and loved it.
Seriously, give it a shot, at least. Defeating an entire group of enemies is very satisfying.
Any word on achievements?
Go-OO: Stick a fork in it
May 31st 2008 6:44AM (Download Squad)Hopefully they'll sort out this support for OpenOffice 3 (and actually get it working).
Ad-Aware 2008 released
May 24th 2008 7:50PM (Download Squad)I use Spybot primarily for TeaTimer, and Ad-Aware for actual scanning. If you're wanting to do a really good scan of your system, you can also use Avira Antivirus which the realtime scanner active, and do a full system scan using Ad-Aware. Doing this, I found a ton of viruses in System Restore files on my external drive, which Norton didn't even bother to scan.
TorrentSpy hit with $111 million fine for copyright violation
May 8th 2008 9:33PM (Download Squad)In the past year however, TorrentSpy was a mess of adverts and pointless scripts. Even with NoScript and Adblock, the site was a mess, and that turned me off going there.
Cross-platform audio editor Audacity updated to 1.3.5 beta
May 8th 2008 9:28PM (Download Squad)It still amazes me that software that does exactly what it's supposed to, and does it right, is always free. Audacity, OpenOffice, GIMP, hell, even the free versions of ZoneAlarm and Avira Antivir has done more for me in the whole week I've installed them than a paid subscription for Norton Internet Security had done in a year.
Freeware, open-source etc. has come a long way from being stuff you find on 3 1/2" floppys on the front of computer mags, now outperforming most overpriced and under-developed paid software.

GTA IV sells 926,000 units first week in UK
May 7th 2008 8:57AM (Joystiq)The girl behind the counter in Game did genuinely look pretty uncomfortable when she told me and I looked at her with disgust, but I took it anyway. The guide is actually pretty good, but on retrospect I wished I'd punched the guy who told me there were copies available, but failed to mention I'd have to buy the guide, then waited most of my lunch break in a queue.
Splinter Cell and Metal Arms become Xbox Originals
May 6th 2008 9:19PM (Joystiq Xbox)Pick the original up dirt cheap, or make you pay full price for the remake with a few extras. We all know what Microsoft would choose!
