His videos have kinda gone downhill. He seems like a cool guy, but he's just too over the top now, I guess. Look at some of his earlier videos, they're pretty much just him voicing over the songs and whatnot.

How would having an optional part where a friend can play as a follower make the single player any different? The follower-friend could even be tethered for all I care, I just like to play games with friends.
