Sony says no, Immersion says yes

I feel someone should point out again that you won't need numchuck for any of the launch multiplayer games, and thus prolly, most people will never need to buy a spare numchuck attachment, ever!

UK prefers zombies to gangstas

I also agree that the save system is perfect for the game type. It's a survival horror, death has to mean something. And I don't have a problem with there just being one save slot personally. Seems to work fine.

Otherwise love the game. So much to do, and I can do what I want, and great atmosphere. It was a long month's wait from the US release, but well worth it.

Wack Xbox 360 achievements, Top 10 style

Sep 13th 2006 9:37AM (Joystiq)
IMO the problem is also because MS has set points totals for game types. 1000 points for every full game and 200 for arcade games.

Ideally there would be an MS quality department that took the game's developers list of what achievements they'd like to have in the game, added a few of their own they thought would be good after playing it, removed the lame ones and then assigned points totals based on difficulty and the game's overall difficulty, etc.

As it stands I got an ridiulous;y high 640 points just for playing through Prey, but I've only got 75 on Geo Wars. Geo wars is 1000% harder and the achievemnts require far more "achievement" to obtain. The current system is good, but makes some achievements feel lame or unwarrented.

Why does Resistance take over 20GB? Glad you asked...

Prey was larger for the 360 than the PC because each level needed to stream the graphics data from sequential blocks, while on the PC access times are faster due to it all being on the hard-disk so this wasn't necessary. Which may factor into PS3 games being larger than known PC games. Also Prey had much reduced texture quality on the 360, perhaps because of storage limitation? Would be interesting to hear what Scott Miller comment on that.

PS I'm a 360 owner, and have no intention to buy a PS3 currently.

Could someone delete Ritchie Nolife's spam pls?

No more dev-kits? Sounds like a pack of lies...

Who the fuck trusts IGN?

But additionally overly positive and overly negative opinions rarely are correct, you have to mix and match.

Bizarre defends going after Geometry Wars clones

Aug 17th 2006 12:46PM (Joystiq)
Check out tetris on wikipedia, the tetris company did try some sueage, but they didn't get much out of it.

I have sympathy for Bizarre as geowars rocks, and they deserve to make money out of it.

But they are making money out of it, last I heard loads of money. So I have somewhat less sympathy. And I can never sympathise with people who equate copyright violation with theft, that just gets my goat.

One day the comments on this site will make me just get my news somewhere else.

Moderate, or digg-like system. Please!

Yeah I know none of you care or whatever, don't bother commenting on my comment.

HD-DVD external drive the next big thing

Aug 4th 2006 9:14AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I'm surprised everyone is so interested. gives creedence to Sony's choice.

Me, I couldn't care less. I'm fairly confident this gen of HD video won't catch on, and even when a gen does catch on, I won't care. I expect anyway.

Emergence Day emerges as *gasp* Nov. 12

TiberiusJones: Great comment. I hope it works out like that as I want all 3 consoles to "win" this time round.

I prolly won't buy a PS3 though anyway, well not until this time next year.

Emergence Day emerges as *gasp* Nov. 12

I'll be buying it, it looks amazing.

I don't think I'll enjoy it much gameplay wise though, just graphically, but I hope to be proved wrong!

It looks like yet another shooter in many ways.
