Cake: Catherine shipped 200,000 units in first week [update]

Aug 4th 2011 1:07PM (Joystiq)
I work at Best Buy and on launch day we literately had our new release table filled with copies of Catherine, and I didn't see a single one sold on launch.

Nevertheless, just goes to show an excellent game with a not so mass-appealing approach can do go in today's market. Bravo, Atlus.

Resistance 3 preview: Hurry down doomsday

Jul 13th 2011 12:10PM (Joystiq)
Excellent preview. I really can't wait for this game. Resistance FOM was the first game I got with my launch PS3, and it was one of the best launch titles for any system I've ever played. The action was great, and the multiplayer was absolutely incredible, it had me playing RFOM well into the first and second year I had a PS3 (and consequentially the big argument "PS3 has no games").

Insomniac Games has always been my fave developer, Spyro, Ratchet &C, Resistance, what an amazing track record.

Dummy Apple SKUs materialize in Best Buy's inventory system?

Feb 16th 2010 1:56AM (Engadget)
well from experience with best buy's RSS inventory system (that sucks shit mind you), its not a ipad or ipod, due to the fact that ipods are under "mp3-devices" and the ipad would most likely be under "e-reading devices" ...

Fox & Friends gets 'fair and balanced' with Modern Warfare 2 discussion

Nov 12th 2009 11:03PM (Joystiq)
I would absolutely give it up to the journalist on the right from common sense media. He did not go into the interview thinking that he was a know-it-all, nor did he ever personally bash the game. He said what was on his mind, and what was said does represent the non-radical view on violent video games: it's all about the parenting, its up to them to decide whether or not to buy the game. Some parents are able to tell that they're kids aren't retarded, and that playing a violent video game that is clearly fictional will promote violence into their lives won't happen.

The real problem with the video was the Fox reporter's ridiculously biased argument. Jesus Christ, I'm not one of the bandwagon who goes along and says "FOX is for teh lulzz lolOL UNfairz and BIAS!!!1one," but rather I clearly see an unbalance in the Fox reporter's view.

I'm pretty fucking sure that stating that the game does "nothing to stop and 8 year old child from becoming a terrorist and shooting people".

To break that down real quick for you all: prerequisites for that to occur is that:

1.) The child/person needs to obtain a gun, and in situations like these 99.99 (repeating of course)% of the cases, the gun's origins are of the parents.
2.) The child/person needs something extra to entice him to kill, such as an illness, or something wrong with their life/school. A lot of times this is caused by bullying, which is something else a parent should be able to intervene with.
3.) The parent needs to buy the fucking game. A true parent would realize what game they are playing, and even when I was a little kid if my parents thought I would be enticed to violence from games, they would have known that everytime they saw me playing a game it was paused, because it was GTA 3.
