Great article - It definitely starts to clear up the waters as to what the core of this service really is: competitive clan based tournaments with a built-in DLC subscription.
I wouldn't be surprised if at E3 they tout "Elite" as the foundation of a CoD competitive league with large scale worldwide competitions.
I love Ico and SoC.... but game remakes are starting to get "GeorgeLucasfied" - Different media, little added value, same price. That's not a good combination.
Definitely happy to see these guys succeed. I'm having a great time with the Witcher 2 so far.
As far as the complaints over difficulty.... I might be in the minority here... but I welcome a game that actually makes me think strategically and challenges me from beginning to end. Those games stand out and are much more rewarding than those that just wear out my mouse as I incessantly left click on everything that moves on my screen.
The service sounds interesting but I think I'll be skipping the paid portion based on what I've read today. I've always enjoyed CoD, but paying additional money to be a part of a clan, lookup additional stats or playing in a tournament structure doesn't really appeal to me.
I know quite a few people who either only play CoD or FPS games exclusively and for them, I think elite is definitely a value-add. For me though, I play a TON of games each year and CoD only holds my interest for a few months before I'm on to something else.
Definitely looks interesting, but I can't help but notice that when compared to Battlefield, the CoD/MW engine is starting to look dated. --- It is all about the gameplay though and we'll have to see how it plays out this Fall, but if I'm scoring trailers here: Battlefield 1 - MW3 0.

May 25th 2011 6:34PM (Joystiq)The D&D license has been poorly managed since 2003 when Bioware stopped developing with it and Black Isle Studios was dissolved by Interplay.
It's a shame that a universe as rich as D&D gets this type of treatment.
