Top 20 XBLA titles purchased in 2006

Dec 30th 2006 1:17PM (Joystiq)
I bought Gauntlet thinking that it would be a lot of fun for my friend and I to play. I was wrong.

More LocoRoco games, confirms Sony

Dec 18th 2006 11:33PM (Joystiq)
"You know, enough characters to put together a 'kart racer' and 'zany sports' spin-offs -- with a LocoRoco 'puzzler' and 'mini-game collection' on deck."
...that wasn't a jab at Mario-themed sports titles, was it? Let it be known that Mario Baseball was my -favorite- Gamecube game, and I will mortgage my soul (and five or six others give me time give me time please just give me time) for some MARIO AMERICAN FOOTBALL! PLEASE!!! PLEEEEAAASE!!!

1up Mario Hoops review -- did Mario serve an airball?

Sep 13th 2006 12:41PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Two pieces:

1. I remember many reviewers calling New Super Mario Bros. "hard". I thought it was easy/medium, which is odd because I am -not- a skilled or dedicated gamer. Maybe this game wouldn't be too bad for me.

2. Despite similar middle-to-highish reviews, Super Mario Baseball (GC) quickly became one of my favorite video games of all time. I still play it several times a week with a friend and alone. I drooled over Mario Hoops for months as a portable extension of that simple fun. No dice? That'd be sad.

P.S.: WHERE IS MY SUPER MARIO AMERICAN FOOTBALL? NINTENDO, I'LL DO WHATEVER YOU ASK!!! ...AND I -DO- MEAN ANYTHING!!! CALL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Major next-gen console news coming tonight [update 1]

Sep 7th 2006 2:15PM (Joystiq)
I doubt that it will be Xbox 360 news. To a gamer who already owns a 360 (like myself and, I assume, most of the Joystiq contributors), -no- 360 news could hold a candle to a major PS3 or (especially) Wii announcement. Given the playful nature of the teaser, I'm guessing it's Wii news. Price, Date, Price / Date, or a major new feature.

Yoshi's Island 2 screens

As long as Yoshi still stomps his feet, looks both ways, and scratches his chin, this game is fine with me.

Mario Strikers Charged pics and analysis

Aug 27th 2006 7:00AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I figure that the -demo- only has four available characters. If anyone recalls, the first Super Mario Strikers demo only had four available characters. You know, the demo that you tore over to Best Buy to play every afternoon on your lunch break, even after the full game had been out for months.

No? That wasn't you? Alas, c'est moi.
