Pinball FX 2 exposed by Australian ratings office

Aug 11th 2010 6:12PM (Joystiq)
@JonahFalcon

Zen Pinball has a significantly different physics system in play as compared to Pinball FX. In Zen, the balls feel heavier and react in a more realistic manner. Zen also has a cool little perk in new trophies for all new DLC tables. They're both great, but I have a feeling that "Pinball FX 2" is simply going to incorporate the enhanced physics and arcade syle visual effects already present in Zen.

There hasn't been a good TH game since THPS3 in 2001. That's 9 years of suck, and they keep getting worse.

This Wednesday: Tecmo Bowl Throwback touches down on XBLA

Nice. This is by the developers of Deathrow on the original Xbox. An updated version of that game with online multiplayer would kick all sorts of ass!

PSN inaccessible, Trophy-supporting games unplayable on non-Slim PS3s [update 4]

How could a PSN issue corrupt data on offline systems? This makes no sense. Also, once PSN is up and running again, corrupted data would remain so, would it not?

Netflix raising rates for Blu-ray subscribers by around 20 percent

Blockbuster is very, very location dependent. If you live in proximity to a major city, their availability for BD's is much better, but the turnaround is a few days slower. On the plus side, they don't charge extra to rent BD's. If you're near a big city at least give them a trial.

Netflix raising rates for Blu-ray subscribers by around 20 percent

Wow, I'm surprised how Netflix loyalists are defending this so vehemently. I understand that it costs more for BD's, but the biggest issue I have is the amount of the increase. If it were to slowly increase over time, it wouldn't be as big of a shock that it's going from a buck to four. If they intended to do this, they should have stepped it up in $1 amounts, or began with a $2 charge or so in the first place. And one more thing -- I can guarantee that after this goes into effect, we'll still see "very long wait" for a month and a half after all high-profile new releases. Mark my words, this will not change wait time, only allotment which needs to grow anyway with more BD customers. So this is basically an extra 20% to keep things where they are right now, I wouldn't get my hopes up for better availability.

Ask Engadget HD: Netflix or Blockbuster -- best by-mail rental service?

Feb 24th 2009 7:01PM (Engadget HD)
As a long time Netflix user (more than 5 years), I decided to give Blockbuster a try. My main reasoning was that as of late, Blu-ray availability is a joke. The only way to reasonably get a new release BD from Netflix is to strategically mail back a rental so that it arrives to them on a Monday. However, since Christmas, this has proven unsuccessful (they receive it on Monday, but don't ship the new release; they always have in the entire time I've used them, until this year. Hasn't happened once this calendar year).

So I figured I'd give Blockbuster a free trial. And, I have to say, the availability of their Blu-Ray's is almost identical to Netflix. But to be honest, they're both terrible when it comes to Blu-Ray movies. I don't have the extensive experience with BB so I can't really say how they function in the long term, but Netflix has really let me down. For example, I've had Hellboy II in my Netflix Q since its release in November, and it still has the designation of long wait (it's been at #1 in my Q since day one).

In regards to service, the turnaround is the same with both. If you only want to rent by mail and don't care about in-store exchange or online streaming, BB's 3-at-a-time plan with Blu-Ray included is $2 less than Netflix, with similar availability. I'm just so disillusioned with Netflix right now, I cannot recommend them.
