'Tremendous' amount of interest in Mass Effect film, BioWare says
Jan 24th 2010 12:07PM (Joystiq)i come back to this site every month or so and its the same few people going back and forth all the time... geez.. doesnt it get old or repetitive at all to any of you? really?
damn uncharted 2 was great and im sure ME2 will be great also.
uncharted 2 had an easier time winning so many awards because there was not much competition elsewhere. what was going to beat it ODST, mario bros wii, demons souls or LFD ?? did you really feel U2 was competing with much last year?
ME2 will have a harder time winning that many awards because there is a better crop of games coming out on both systems this year. ME2 has to compete with GOW, GT, Reach, etc.... you dont see more AAA games this year and awards being more shared between them ??
and i think ME2 is getting more press 1 in part because it is the bigger franchise over uncharted 2 IMO. remember kidz the game is coming out on 2 platforms and not 1 platform like uncharted and is being advertising to a larger and wider audience than uncharted 2. there are over 100 million+ potential PC and 360 customers and there was what 30 million ps3 customers to advertise the games 2.
common sense tells me which game will get more press and publicity.
then you have EA controlling most of the marketing of this game and EA is known for doing better marketing and spending more money on advertising than Sony and naughty dog. there is a reason we are seeing more ME2 TV commercials than we saw U2 commercials.
bunch of over-analytical people on this site. i feel sorry for your gf's and wife's if you spend this much time debating video games to eternity. I wonder how much time do you all averagely play video games per day?
you are really debating the amount of press coverage joystiq set aside for U2 and ME2.... damn that is sorry. what else can i say....
p.s. maybe joystiq is part of an MS conspiracy.... lol (j/k for those that dont get the joke)
Video interview: Heavy Rain producer confirms DLC, talks game marketing
Dec 14th 2009 4:50PM (Joystiq)damn dude. they havent even said a release date and this game has been talked about for what about 3+ years now. its kinda not fun to hear 'sometime after the release of our game' (whenever that may be), just know that there will be DLC.
IMO they are completing an entire story, and breaking parts of it off (episodes) to be released as DLC in the future. why else would there be no 'Approximate' release date but confirmed DLC ?
Yakuza 3 heads west in March 2010
Dec 8th 2009 9:21PM (Joystiq)to sum up my point short, this answers it best for me: 'Demon's Souls isn't going to be everybody's cup of tea'. honestly i would rather replay a game like too human than attempt to try and play demons souls again at this point.
and i just dont see how some people think this is their favorite RPG of all time, because i dont like it. just based on my opinion. I cant figure out what i am missing out on and why others have enjoyed the game so much.
Forza 3 sales surpass 1m units; premium DLC released
Dec 8th 2009 9:00PM (Joystiq)ps3 does not have the market dominance that the ps2 and ps1 had when GT, MGS, and GTA all sold more than 10 million copies each. this is the most popular playstation game franchise so maybe it could be the game to close in on like 8 million sold, but im thinking about 4-5 million worldwide. which is great and will boost the playstation even more forward. but back to topic.
now when you say 360 owners did not care. i think you are wrong because selling 1 million copies is great this gen no matter what.
dead space, too human, left 4 dead, mirrors edge, countless RPG's have sold less than 1 million copies on each console and some of the great games this gen and games that are greatly loved by many gamers, including the forza following.

Dec 8th 2009 5:43PM (Joystiq)why does everyone that likes demons souls think that everyone will like the game ?
when has that ever been true for any other game in our lives ?
Bungie explains 'series of stumbles' in ODST marketing
Dec 8th 2009 4:50PM (Joystiq)is a great way to describe playing the new single player 'flashback' game....
hopefully halo reach will not follow this crap path.....................
(halo3:ODST one of the biggest waste of $ 60.00 gaming dollars since HAZE !!!!)

Dec 8th 2009 4:46PM (Joystiq)example: "if you do not repostle at the exact correct time, you die and start over"
which isn't that exciting or fun for most gamers and even if they produced more copies of the game and marketed it harder i do not feel it would have sold many more copies because like many have said this is just a 'niche' game.
i think because of its ps3 exclusivity some of talk about the game as if it is a AAA popular title that most gamers will enjoy, such as halo 3, uncharted, or mario.

Dec 8th 2009 4:40PM (Joystiq)demons souls had 1 of the most archaic battle systems around.
the main thing IMO the game has is its difficulty. if the game suddenly became easier and easier i do not feel that it would have been as much enjoyed.
IMO playstation gamers like harder games than most 360 gamers and they delivered with this game.
and enrique i played fallout for 100 hours and discovered over 100 places so how did it take you 3 hours to discover each new place ? maybe you got lost or something. anyway the VATS system was innovative and provided a cinematic experience that broke the game out of just being a 'shooter' with RPG elements. the use of VATS which paused the game in place acts like a turn based system which allows the player time to decide on their attacking move, something RPG fans usually love to have so we dont have to make quick 'run & gun' decisions..
part of the innovation and greatness of fallout 3 was also the fact that VATS was not mandatory and you could have played the game without using the system. so why complain about a system you dont have to use ? (honestly it only helped us out when playing and was very innovative, unlike many aspects of demons souls) also switching from 3rd to 1st person was strategic at different times and really helped out.
i dont mind your opinion on liking demons souls over fallout, because we all decide that for ourselves, but thats my 2 cents.
