Microsoft: Dropping HDMI cable gives Xbox 360 consumers 'flexibility'
Aug 27th 2009 1:28PM (Joystiq)Yeah, well, getting around the 100 USD Wi-fi accessory is a different story, 360's lack of wi-fi out of the box is a real pain in the butt... Not to mention yeah sure, you have to charge the PS3 controller (or Xbox if you got the accessory), but you wanna know what I don't have to do? Spend money on batteries anymore.
No real point about getting into an exclusive e-peen battle, you like ODST, some people don't. Some people pop a boner for UC2, you don't.
Lastly, why do you want to play L4D2? Its just L4D again with... you know... a new title.
This may not be a "big deal," but I am sure alot of people agree with me when I say this is not a step forward for Microsoft, and the concept of that bothers me. I already spent 4x as much on 360 accessories than I did on PS3 accessories because they can't package things in box... It may only be "another 4 bucks," but its still a step back for what is supposed to be the "Elite" version of an HD console.
ESA sues Chicago Transit Authority over advertising discrimination
Jul 24th 2009 9:22AM (Joystiq)As such they are subject to a set of laws different from what you would typically think of for any other type of advertisement, they can't discriminate in anyway. They have to allow any potential advertiser a fair opportunity.
If this was a TV station or a magazine privately owned, then your logic is spot on. Fox, for example, doesn't have to advertise anything on NBC or ABC. The Super Bowl can choose to forbid Sam Adams from buying advertisements. Game Informer can choose to forbid Best Buy ads. They are privately owned, and as such their not considered a public forum, so they aren't subject to the first amendment.

Kotick questions continued Activision support of Sony platforms [update]
Jun 19th 2009 11:48AM (Joystiq)I get your point, except in this economic climate, if the PS3 version is turning a profit you stick with that.
Its another story if they are losing money on these games, which I refuse to believe btw, anything with Call of Duty sells MILLIONS of copies regardless of its system, although mind you their games sell worst on the Wii unless its GH, and there haven't been significant changes to GH's engine since GH3.
But if you have something, and its turning a profit, you don't stop it to risk that money on something else. Thats just bad business (and Id argue one of the reasons we are currently in our recession).
Kotick questions continued Activision support of Sony platforms [update]
Jun 19th 2009 11:41AM (Joystiq)And even for the Guitar Hero games (which you have to consider have been in stead decline since Guitar Hero 3), the PS3 is never pathetically far behind. Guitar Hero 4 it was 1.2 mil on the PS3 vs. 1.9 mil on the 360 vs. 2.9 on the Wii. Guitar Hero Metallica it was .2 on the PS3 vs. .3 on the Wii vs. .4 on the 360. There aren't gigantic discrepancies there.
Not to mention if you look at ANY OTHER ACTIVISION GAME the Wii is the worst selling console. World at War sold twice as many copies on the PS3 as the Wii (although the 360 was still king), Tony Hawk games (all released this generation), Spiderman games, etc.
So really, lets look at this for what it is... its another CEO who wants the PS3 to come down in price.
Sony, just make the market happy, pull a Microsoft. Release a PS3 w/out a hard-drive, a wired controller, and without wireless-internet for 200 bucks. Then everybody will be happy. The spin-masters will be able to call your system budget.
New SCEE head thinks Wii owners will eventually 'upgrade' to PS3

Jun 9th 2009 9:38AM (Joystiq)1) Why does Ford think Mercedes and BMW make a better car then they do? I hope thats a joke, because its not true.... I guess you have never read a Ford exec announcing a new car. Their car is ALWAYS better than the competition.
2) You missed the point, the point is it isn't a biased assessment. They don't give biased opinions.
I hate to break it to ya, but whatever Nintendo does, they think they do the best... Sure Nintendo hasn't been asked whether their system has been the best entertainment experience(Remember, this was an interview, so he was asked a question), but are you SERIOUSLY telling me that if a Nintendo exec was asked what the best overall entertainment experience is they would give you an answer that doesn't include the Wii? An answer that includes the 360 or the PS3?
You serious? You SERIOUSLY think that? Because that Nintendo exec will give you an answer that has the Wii as the only gaming system you will ever need (at least until the "Wii2") EVERY time.
New SCEE head thinks Wii owners will eventually 'upgrade' to PS3
Jun 8th 2009 10:08PM (Joystiq)This is BUSINESS, Sony isn't going to mention MSoft as a potential upgrade despite the fact that both the 360 and PS3 are more powerful gaming machines than the Wii.
MSoft does the same thing... You don't upsell your competition.
Moreover, I don't understand why this stuff is news? A company exec delusional about their product?... It happens everywhere, even outside this stupid fanboy-bs that is gaming nowadays.
Ford thinks they make the best cars... Honda thinks they do... Toyota thinks they do... Chevy thinks they do... etc etc
HP will tell you they make the best laptop, then Dell will tell you they do, then Toshiba will tell you they do, etc... etc...
Seriously people, get a couple of brain cells. These guys DEFINE biased, of course their assessment isn't honest, Nintendo's isn't either, MSoft's isn't either...
