Oh look, another WWII-themed first-person shooter
Aug 31st 2006 1:22PM (Joystiq)I like the ideas mentioned earlier about going even further back in American History to the Civil War and Revolutionary War. However, I don't know how well that would work if it was made at all realistic. The fire rate for their weaponry was very low and they didn't exactly have many vehicles to work with either :-).
Bomberman photoshop contest: How to make right out of wrong
Aug 31st 2006 12:48PM (Joystiq)Um, what?
I count maybe 4 tops that possibly make reference to the fact the guy being black. And there many more that a comment about the game. So how could you possibly make this statment?
Just say no to pushy game retailers
Aug 30th 2006 4:45PM (Joystiq)I do enjoy shopping at GameCrazy (the one inside Hollywood Video). The guys there are really cool and don't insult my gaming choices like they do at EBGames ("Oh, you own a GameCube too? Oh... you own a DS and not a PSP?"). The only "hard sell" they might make is asking if I want to pre-order something when I'm checking out, but usually a "no" will suffice. They might tack on one more "just be careful, because it might be hard to find after it comes out". Um yeah, I don't think I've ever not been able to find a new game I want to purchase anywhere.

Problem is: they list the same item both as the DS Lite and normal DS rumble pack. They don't actually sell the smaller version for the DS Lite that they have in Japan (even though it's listed as the DS Lite Rumble pack).
Huge summer Circuit City sale [Update]
Jun 27th 2006 10:40AM (Joystiq Nintendo)I managed to get Pac Pix and Trace Memory at my local CC. I also had friends in other states that are sending me Metroid Prime: Pinball and Pac n' Roll that they found at their CC's, but most reports are that the good stuff was either not in stock at all at the beginning of the sale, or is gone by now.
Good luck to everyone though.
Ninety-Nine Nights to require Hard Drive? [update 2]
Jun 27th 2006 10:37AM (Joystiq)Opera browser review
Jun 24th 2006 5:16PM (Joystiq Nintendo)From their requirements page (http://www.aim.com/get_aim/express/aim_expr_req.adp) it appears as if they only list a browser as a requirement. There's no specific mention of flash or any other plug-in that Opera on the DS doesn't support. My guess would be that it uses just plain HTML and Javascript, so it should work. It would be nice for people to test these things out once it's released and have a list to see what works and what doesn't (like Meebo.com)

Rumor: new, cheaper Xbox 360 this holiday
Jun 20th 2006 3:07PM (Joystiq)There is no reason for Microsoft to cut the price of the 360. As Peter Moore already said, Microsoft got their price cut when Sony announced the PS3 price. There's no point in them going deeper into the hole to possibly sell a few more units. And they don't want to run the risk of being seen as too cheap (see the Gamecube).
