Just because it doesn't do that stuff doesn't automatically make it crap.
Every platform has its pros and cons, and as a dev you just have to pick the one that does what you want to achieve.

Turning up the brightness eh? Apple should turn up the brightness of their devs. The iPad is the problem here, not the access points. Letting this pass through as a "fix" sounds rather cocky to me to be honest.
