BioWare investigating fix for Mass Effect 3 face import errors

Mar 7th 2012 5:03PM (Joystiq)
This happened to me too. The issue apparently only arises if you imported your ME1 Shep into ME2 and accept the imported face with no changes.

A friend of mine made some minor tweaks to Shep when he imported into ME2, so his Shep's appearance was imported into ME3...but he said she looked very different, even had the wrong hair color. It seems that there are some facial features possible in ME2 which have no equivalent in ME3.

I recreated a reasonable facsimile of my Shepard from scratch, which shall have to suffice. Though he's just different enough to elicit strange Uncanny Valley reactions from time to time...

PSA: ME3 on the 360 can't import ME2 saves in (or transferred by) the cloud

By the way, the EA article is a little unclear on this: Do you have to move the Mass Effect 2 save file back to the console on which you first CREATED it, or the console on which you COMPLETED the game? Because the console on which I initially CREATED my ME2 savegame is long dead of scarlet ring disease. I used the Xbox HDD Transfer Kit to move it from my old hard drive to the replacement console a couple months later.

PSA: ME3 on the 360 can't import ME2 saves in (or transferred by) the cloud

@liquidsoap89 It's a relative new feature, only available to XBL Gold subscribers if I recall right. It actually works really well -- I just added a second 360 to my household and, combined with the vastly improved profile download feature in the last dashboard update, I can play seamlessly on either console using the same set of savegames.

The only drawback is that I have to take the physical game DVD from one console to another if I am playing a physical retail game. Arcade games (like Alan Wake's American Nightmare) have no such issue of course.

Holy shit, whoa. Huge thanks to Joystiq for posting this because I almost ran afoul of it.

I just bought a new 360 last week, and moved (because "copy" was disallowed) my ME2 saves to Cloud Storage. Fortunately my previous console, the one on which I completed ME2, still works and is still in my possession. It sounds like I need to move the save from the cloud to that 360, then move it to a USB drive, THEN move it to my new 360.

Good grief.

WRUP: An early harvest

Unpacking the Gears of War edition Xbox I just got for my birthday and jumping into GoW3, assuming I can tear myself away from Skyrim and Alan Wake's American Nightmare, both of which are keeping me up till 3 a.m. most nights.

The Darkness 2 review: Shooting bullets off a list

Insane asylums and Lovecraft? Worth a pair of ubiquitous review stars right there.

There's a demo, you say? I should sample it. Actually, what I should really do is dig up the first game from my backlog and play it through. I admittedly deprioritized it after a friend tried it and quickly took to referring to it as "The Suckness."

Deja Review: Alan Wake (PC)

@HudsonX1 Ha, ditto on the Twin Peaks point. I was always a fan of that show and appreciated the thematic similarity between it and Wake. The "Bright Falls" short video series is a fun watch, too.

Feh...now I want to go back and play this game again before American Nightmare lands.

@Drew327 Seriously, it's getting so I need a Volus pressure suit to avoid choking on it.

PSA: Mass Effect 3 demo drops today

Feb 14th 2012 5:51PM (Joystiq)
If the Kinect integration actually is working in this demo, has anyone tried it, and if so, what do you think? Is it as hokey as it looked in Major Nelson's video demo?

Fans find shiploads of errors in latest Mass Effect novel

Feb 1st 2012 1:54AM (Joystiq)
@Faceless Troll

That may be, but from reading the Google Doc, it seems like a large part of the problem is that Deception throws out all sorts of continuity established by previous novels, to say nothing of what the ME games themselves establish. I could understand the novels taking some creative liberties and departing slightly from what the games tell us, but when the books aren't even be consistent amongst themselves, that's a real problem IMO.
