Reggie Fils-Aime promoted to NOA president

May 25th 2006 7:45PM (Joystiq)
This is middle school French level talking here, so I might be completely off-base, but doesn't the "s" at the end of "Fils" carry over to the "aime?" Like, if it was "fils" alone, it would be "fee," but since it's hyphenated with the "aime," it would be more like "fee-zem/zaym"? Like "vous etes" is pronounced "voo-zete," or even how the "t" in "comment allez-vous" carries over so that it's pronounced "comon tallay-voo."

Wii Twilight Princess in widescreen, GameCube in 4:3

May 10th 2006 4:48AM (Joystiq)
I think the qualms Nintendo has about making Twilight Princess Wii-exclusive is that not only will they be going back on all their previous claims that it WILL, in fact, be on GameCube, but also gamers who've been anticipating only having to pay $50 to play the game will not be too thrilled about being forced to fork over $300 instead. Wii-exclusivity might make the console penetrate the market faster, but there is probably a significant number of people who aren't ready to pay for the next generation yet. So even though they won't be making as much money off of the Wii for the time being, having two versions of the game is probably most profitable to them because I'm sure they're placing bets that the gamers who are waiting WILL eventually get their new console.

Rumor: New Starfox-like title to be presented at E3

May 4th 2006 10:07PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
"Of course, StarFox 2 on DS could quite possibly lead to some DSs being subjected to sexually deviant behavior."

First thing that came to mind related to furries. :)()

A slimmer DS at the expense of GBA playability?

Jan 15th 2006 11:47AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
My vote says they'll keep GBA slot, because like people have said already, it's used for more than just GBA games, and having built-in rumble support in the new version isn't going to render the GBA slot useless since there are other things that can be done with it, like unlocking bonus content as people have posted, plus releasing expansion packs, like the one released for Band Brothers.

Train Your Brain screens emerge

Jan 12th 2006 8:51PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Ahhh uhhh I think there's some confusion as to which game this screenshot comes from. There are two series of games in the brain training category on the DS, one being Kawashima Ryuuta's "Train Your Brain--DS Training for Adults" ("Nou o kitaeru--Otona no DS Training") which recently got a sequel, and the other one being "Gentle Brain Exercises" ("Yawaraka Atama Juku"), which is what I'm assuming you mean by the "Kid version". But Gentle Brain Exercises features happy colourful kindergarten-quality artwork (as seen in screenshots here: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/ayaj/index.html), whereas Train Your Brain features Kawashima Ryuuta's big floating head of polygons.

Er, that is to say, the fact that Kawashima Ryuuta's head is in that screenshot indicates that this screenshot IS the "Adult version", and that in actuality, Nintendo has yet to announce plans for the "Kid version". ...That is all!

What game do you wish was on the DS?

Katamari.
