Wii System Update 4.2 now live
Sep 29th 2009 9:38AM (Joystiq)I know logically Nintendo has to throw the baby out with the bathwater when they do these updates. Cutting off moral homebrewers and pirates simultaneously, However people should not assume that someone is not buying WiiWare or Virtual Console games or even retail games just because someone uses BootMii/Homebrew Channel.
Rumor: DSi hacked, world surprised it took so long
Nov 4th 2008 6:12PM (Joystiq)If you can't find high quality DS homebrew its because you are not looking.
Just a few Amazing Ds Homebrew not found on other hand helds off the top of my head :
Colors!
LoneWolf DS Book 1 and 2.. ( 3 in developement )
Mario Paint Composer
Still Alive DS
Pocket Physics
All of these are arguably commercial quality and not available elsewhere.
GDC08: Wi-Fi good news, bad news
Feb 23rd 2008 8:48PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Obviously useful for anything massive multiplayer. Which I would honestly love to see on the Wii.
I doubt it means the end of existing free games with small numbers of peers, like many people seem to be fearing. Existing Wii games seem largely peer to peer, and pay-to-play seems to be for a service that would require more wieght on the server end.
DS Fanboy poll: Pay And Play
Feb 23rd 2008 8:43PM (Joystiq Nintendo)In either case I think this opens up MMORPGs on the DS. Which is something ive been dying to see.

Wii Warm Up: When you just can't take any more Dragonball
May 23rd 2007 4:13PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Sadly it most likely will never happen.
We need the Evangelion game from the N64 on virtual console!!
Whatever happened to that new Sailor Moon game that was rumored a while back for the Wii ?
Wii Warm Up: Enter initials
May 14th 2007 7:22PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Still extra coding = Extra money. Especially as you would need a custom emulators for every game. Couldn't imagine it with how many complaints there have been over current virtual console pricing.
@15 JC Fletcher:
Speculation about the possible is fun.
Speculation about the improbable week after week after week is boring.
Wii Warm Up: Enter initials
May 14th 2007 12:16PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Not only that but in many cases the original source code is likely lost. Also in some cases the rights to the source code may be in legal limbo.
And even then each individual game would need to be altered. Or at a minimum it's emulator would have to be redesigned custom for every game.
In short its not going to happen for classic virtual console games.
I expect it will happen for ORIGINAL downloadable titles though.
